I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi all. I'm in the process of ordering the parts reqd for my 550 rebuild after a long delay due to illness. There are a couple of places in the UK for these (Crooks...no reply to email....Robinsons....same day reply) but I got a shock at the prices...!!!
I'm looking at CMSNL as an alternative,,cheaper....but from what I read here they have big shipping costs.
Another supplier for the parts would be Boulevard Suzuki in USA......now coming up as Parts Outlaw..?? Prices seem very much cheaper. Again, shipping costs could be an issue.

To give you an idea of UK prices....these are 3.....:
Ring Set ?51.07 a set
Head Gasket ?102.73
Base Gasket ?12.28

My questions are :
1. Do these alternates actually supply OEM or are they pattern..?
2. Who would most people recommend..?
3. Any UK guys used either of these last 2 suppliers and if so, how did they do..?

Any info would be most welcome.

Keith

Parts outlaw deals in O.E.M. parts.

Although they might be the furthest from having the lowest prices, one other source you may want to consider is Alpha-sports. As I understand, shipping might be less of a headache than any others located here in the states. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

I tried to order something from CMSNL before but decided to get them from the main dealer . I had to sent so many e mails to them that I just gave up in the end. What more do you need to give as Igave them a chassisnumber and enginenumber and still it wasn't easy enough for them. But my dealer had a problem too as the people don't understand how to work with the old part fiches anymore.
Robinson's seem to be a lot better and very good in replying to a question by e mail.

Crooks have a wealth of knowledge, but just don't seem to have joined the 21st century. I've found the best way to deal with them is via telephone.

I've mostly used Robinsons recently, and found them very reliable.

I ordered from CMSNL once - the order arrived in reasonable time, but the high shipping negated the initial cheaper prices.

Robinsons will almost certainly (certainly?) be selling genuine gaskets and I think their service is second to none.

Having said that I used NE gaskets from Wemoto in my old yellow 550 (who are also good to deal with) and they were fine and a lot cheaper. I just checked and they still sell them.

And are you sure you need new rings? Alright, I'm a bit cheap but I've never stuck new rings in a 550.

As Steve says, CMSNL's postage charges almost always kill the deal.

Hi all, thanks for the info guys.
Putting new rings in due to low compression...head was corroded and had to be skimmed....bores honed so new rings as well.
Will compare prices and see what I can save..!!

Valves were OK. 1 slightly out but compression was low across the board.
This was the state of the head when removed:
