A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Recreating a wiring harness from scratch....... GS1100GK

So after letting my GS sit for probably too long I need to dig in and just fix the wiring harness. Looking at it, it appears that the harness was made by someone else at one point or they took the stock harness and had it apart. Unless they always have cheap electrical tape around them. The ones I've seen pictures of have the better cloth tape. Ugh.

I definitely need some parts here. Previous owner said that the battery isn't charging so I'm going to order a new stator, rectifier/regulator which it seems on Suzuki is one part for the R/R. I have the schematic and can just rewire the bike. I have some gaps though. What is the ignition block in the schematic next to the coils? Electronic ignition? The stator is marked as the alternator on the schematic, correct? What/where is the pickup coil? It also shows a diode. Is that actually bolted on the frame or just inline with the harness somewhere?

I think the rest of this I can sort of figure out myself. If anyone has any good ideas in where I could get some color coded wire in bulk as well as connectors that would be helpful.

Also if anyone has the gs1100gk schematic on a JPEG or odd that would also be helpful. I have the G schematic so at least covers most of the harder parts for me. I'm pretty sure the GK schematic is actually in the service manual so I'll take another look.

You would be better off purchasing an existing harness. Even if it's for a regular 1100G and not specific to your bike, you can modify it easily enough. For example, I took a 1000GL harness and converted it for use on a 1000S model bike.

BTW, the stock harness wrap is not cloth, it's non adhesive harness wrap that looks like electrical tape, sometimes denoted Elliot tape.
