Recreating Pure Pearl Red

Anyone got a decent formula? I know Posplayr has done this and he said it came out just a tad oranger. I have a basecoat that I believe will be very close. Ordering several premixed pearl colors this week in airbrush size bottles. My plan is to take a large test panel and base it and then try sections with the different pearls. Going to do the pearls in an intermediate clear and maybe one intermediate pearl with a tint from the base red added. This will subdue the pearl slightly, kinda like pearl added to a kandy.

Does anyone know what color pearl was used? It appears to be red. I am going to order a red, a cinnamon and a maybe a gold to use in the red tinted clear.

My tank and factory panels are in real good shape so I am not looking to do a total repaint. Just for new fenders and fairing, and maybe future total jobs.

It's customary to take a sample of the paint to an automotive paint store and then they will blend the paint for you. Much simpler this way than trying to blend yourself as you are. I did that on a 750ES I painted and they sent me home with both a base coat and a pearl coat.

As for Jim's paint job I've seen it, and it's very nice, but I think the reason it turned out orange because he used a lot of pearl layers, more than the stock paint had. Application makes a big difference in three stage paint matching.

Yes I am aware that paint shops colormatch etc. That is who helped me get the base. But... the pearl is not a standard pearl and without doing a few test panels, getting a good match is a roll of the dice. As you aptly stated, even the amount of pearl applied will have different results. Just trying to match the right color pearl and the right effect.

Even if a paint shop sends you home with a canof goodies, you still could get over zealous on midcoat and change the effect. No problem if it is a total job, but on a panel or repair, I will allways sample.
Guess I should clarify my question. Not asking for the actual paint blending recipe to create the mix itself, but details on the pearl portion of the deal.

I am unaware of any existing color code that is current or any color scanners that can properly read a pearl job, hence the original post.

There is a color that is readily available that is what appears to me to be the same color as posplayr's bike, he has an excellent looking bike by the way, the color I'm referring to is on the 2010 Chevy Camaro it's called Inferno Orange you need to take a look at it, I almost painted my bike this color but at the last possible minute I found the match for my maroon '82 1100EZ.

The Inferno Orange is a reddish orange and it is pearl, I've even seen it with a golden pearl man it looked sharp it had a very faint golden hue to the orange, of course the one I saw with the golden pearl was at the dealer in Palmdale California. Just my two cents worth.
