Found this new Polaris Part # 4012941 (this is the correct one for all GS bikes?)

here at http://polarisparts123.com for $60US

Unfortunately, their UPS shipping charge (with the accompanying bogus brokerage fees) of $53 + makes this inexpensive item too expensive for Canucks.. bummer.

Cheapest I can find in Canada is $97 plus shipping..

That's the right one! Buy it as gift for relative/friend in USA and have them forward it to you- looks like $73 US dollars shipped to stateside address. It is the R/R you want-I added one in June (for same price-different supplier) and no charging problems at all.

Thanks for confirming the item.. what was the other supplier you used for the same price?

Cheers!!

Happy Holidays!

Can anyone who has the SH775 R/R provide the dimensions and the bolt pattern?

Thank you so much!

Hopefully this R/R will be the XMas miracle to solve my GS charging woes.

Indeed!

Looks like corrosion on the negative lead out of the R/R was the culprit for stator shorting. Rewiring most of the entire wiring harness to get her factory fresh again. Who doesn't love a good winter project?

Thanks again for all the help. This forum is truely priceless.

Completely stock 1982 GSX400E, 16k miles, pics to come.

Cheers,
Dylan

I am a total noobie when it comes to bike building so forgive me if this is something I should be able to figure out easily from the chart. What Honda regulator model(s) would work on a 1982 GS450T?

Steve has graciously done the price checking for online ones- if you got a Polaris dealer near you, inquire ,cuz they might be close or willing to bargain.
Actually, I checked my local dealer, too.

Retail. Period. $79.95

.

That's a shame. My local dealer dropped the price to $69.00 after I showed them the online prices. No shipping charges, but state tax brought it up to about $73.00 total cost.

on that Polaris part I saw that it had two connectors on the regulator. Are you guys buying the connector harnesses for the other side For wiring?

have you guys seen any videos or documents with pics showing this being done.?

Some buy the wiring harness but all I did was crimp some regular spade connectors to my wires and shove 'em onto the R/R. You can then fill the connector area with silicone for a weather-tight seal or live on the wild side and leave it open.

I'd appreciate some feedback on these two regulators. My bike is an '82 Suzuki GS450T and I'm interested in changing the current shunt R/R to a series regulator.

Would these work on my bike electronically? ... meaning, I'm more than happy to relocate the mounting location if it can't fit under the side cover.

If those have 2 wires to the stator, as it seems in the picture, your bike will only run on two cylinders! Jokes aside, your bike has a 3 phase stator and needs a 3 phase regulator.
Use the search facility on this forum and you will find threads advising you to buy a series regulator if you want to spend more, a Mosfet regulator if you want to spend slightly less and a standard SCR regulator if you want to save a bit. Some SCR regulators are still running strong after many years.

Thanks for the advice. My preference would be for the Mosfet over the SCR due to the concern that SCRs fail in a closed circuit state. (From what I've read)

Is it safe to say that ANY regulator that supports a 3 phase stator would work?
