DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Replace faulty flasher relay?

Can I replace my faulty stock flasher relay on my 80 gs1100 with one from the auto store? Any particular brand or stock number?

Yep and nope. But if you look on Basscliff's site he has some good information about doing it.

And do a search here, in fact I listed one awhile back that is working for mine. Just remember that if you have the self-cancelling signals they won't work typically after doing so.

I don't have the self cancelling feature on mine. The switches are gsxr. Its my gsxr/bandit conversion.

Thanks, Basscliff

As usual, you're the man........

Thanks, Paul

Basscliff,
Forgive me if I seem intrusive, but if I may ask......
Would this technique you linked to work on a '79 850? I have been around the manual, inside and out, and cannot see anything else other than my relay is bad. My fuses are good, the lights are receiving power/signal...but refuse to blink. The lights will turn solid for left or right, respectively, but will not blink. After a good hour chasing wires and arguing with my multimeter, I whittled it down to my turn signal relay. The problem then results in A.) the OEM part is painfully expensive, and B.) my local shop insists this is the only part that will work. If you could answer this, or at least point me in the direction of someone who can help me, it would be much obliged.

Thanks!

Yes, a generic aftermarket flasher relay can be wired in place of the stock Suzuki part. Your bike is similar enough that my procedure should help you. Are you using all stock bulbs?

Again, I encourage you to start your own thread.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Ok, I'll probably create a new thread. I made one about my other electrical issue, so maybe I'll just condense the turn signal into there too...I'll use the tutorial, the only thing that might not work I the fact I don't have the same turn signal relay as you.....but it is worth a shot.

Thank you kindly!

I realize that I am adding this comment 6 years after the thread was started but I wish I knew before what I know now.
Being that I am in Canada, I was not able to get the Tridon EP34 so I tried the Novita EP34-C. I was told Novita and Tridon are the same company and the EP34-C is the same as the EP34.
I used BassCliff's "Turn Signal Relay Replacement" link above but it wouldn't work. For the Novita EP34-C, you will need to connect "E" to the Ground, "L" to the Blue wire and "B" to the Orange wire. I am using 2006 GSX-R 1000 controls with LED signals and works great.
Thanks BassCliff for your link - it got me 90% there.
