A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

It takes patience to deal with these things, you have to learn to stay calm. You might have some loose connections that "magically" heal themselves- recheck everything or sell now while it's running!

if i can get it runnin withough dumping 4 or 500 bux into ill keep it...yea its slow an dont do wheelies but its better on gas

My bets on the coil relay mod. Loose connection or bad relay. Actually it sounds like a bad ground
Did you use a pigtail or are you using individual connections on the relay?

Sorry, but if your mechanic skills are anything like your typing and grammar skills you should stop trying to fix the bike.

indivdual connectors...

and kerman i really dont care how i type...no ones perfect...but since you seem to know me im a horrible mechanic who cant speel or right talk potato applejuice...bobwehadababyitsaboy

ive made a ground direct to the frame from battery, grounded out extra grounds the are no longer used(like factory turn signal box) made a common ground location (or 2)...thanks to dan,,

so tommorow ill see how it does...it did start right up though an would rev with a bit of hesitaion...but bike was still a tad cold

also found a very badly burn ground wire under igniter insulation ( got rid of plug)

igessit ok totipe lyk i am ignerent, yetstil expec respek rite?

Everyone has a typo now and then.

When you get dressed to go out, do you take the time to look good?

nope i dont..cause i dont give a damn on what people think...nor am upset in my life to go on the internet an complain about somones typing..since i have no help or anything to offer but a post telling me how to type...

So, have you replaced the coil mod relay yet?

srry cant read yer post...

no i havnt i got a new relay waiting for the morning light tommorow..ill post results tommorow mornin/afternoon

trere nown ta do strange things wen u drop a bike. stuff like not givin spark and the lyk. wuz my first thaut when you postid yer bike wuz ded. I carry an extra in the bike kit since mine acted up for no reason. Either way, hang in there. These bikes can be tempermental, but they are worth it.

Just keep at it, persistence pays off- it's a learning experience.

that it is...well i rode it a small bit today...its kinda chilly here today it wouldnt start for nothing..but once it warms it seems to run rather good...

so far so good...

"rather good" sounds like progress! Even in 70 degrees my bike needs full "choke" applied with NO throttle input for a quick cold start.

yep id say progress...rode it 25 miles today..start stop, wot through all gears, normals...let the bike cool for a few hours an back on etc..

but yes when its cold it dont like it...but once the bike is warm its fun...

my bike full choke it still cranks for a good minute...i think its due to the crap sync tool i had...prolly just pay the 50 or so to have em synced at a shop

So what was the fix? Vice grips and a hammer? ;)

zip ties and electrical tape...

oh yes i forgot to tell u...this morning while it was warming up, i was inside getting my helmet an jacket...i head a big boom outside...i set my helmet down an said...there went the bike....without a miss

but was a sonic boom

but yea it was something between a possible faulty relay...junk igniter plug/ground wire, and the wires that come out of the fuse box..

i guess time will tell if its fixed..

dun dun dun...it did it again...i got it down to the fusebox area....dirty connections maybe?

These bikes are very cold natured to begin with, even in 100 degree heat my bike needs to be choked to start even after running for awhile.

Sonic boom? That can't be good, for the bike or the heart.

Hard cold starting may be a sign of improper valve clearance. I know you haven't touched on it in this thread and may have elsewhere, but have you adjusted the valves?
