    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I was looking into making my own steel brake line and it sounds easy enough (thanks again BikeCliff and Mr. Nessism and everyone else here who asked questions I wanted to ask and got answers for me) and I was brought to thinking about my lovely fuel line and vaccum line I replace far too often (in my opinion at least). Would there be any benefit, or possibility even to replace them with a similar hose? I've known several people who worked for hose manufacturers as well as machine shops. Any thoughts?

I think someone has looked into using it for fuel and there was an issue with how well it would stand up to the chemicals I think. I remember questions being asked in the Homemade Stainless Steel Lines thread but don't remember seeing any results.

I'll be interested to see if anyone pops up and says they did it.
 
they do hard fuel lines all the time on cars and trucks right from the factory so I dont see how there would be an issue. Just have to remember a hard line does not like vibrations and flexing so rubber flex line would need to be at the places from tank to frame and from frame to carbs. Same applies for the vac line on having to have flex in there. The distances you are talking about I do not think would likely be worth the time for little to no benefit.

How often are you having to replace these lines?

Not sure how your bike is equipped, but all of my bikes have a rubber hose from the tank, directly to the carbs. Does not even get that close to the frame anywhere along the way.
