A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

replacing velocity stack with pods???

  • Thread starter Thread starter maro

Well, Maro, if you have 33's on there, my pods won't help you, and your velocity stacks won't fit my 29's. :( Oh well..... I'll keep looking.

sissy's!!!
click clack click clack click clack click clack :)
See that noise would drive me insane. Any weird noises that come from my bike cause me to tear things apart till i find and eliminate it. I dunno if i couldnt handle rattle slides...might give me a facial tic...lol.

I would like a set of BS36ss tho...

The coolest carbs ive seen, A Micky model, but i dont know which, had an accelerator pump and a DECELERATION pump on them as well, that shot a small blast down the throats to keep the bike from leaning out on deceleration. Not enough to make the bike surge, but just enough..These were on a GPZ1100

not really,
i have a couple sets that i had slotted, not happy with them so on the shelf they stay.
if you want to save shipping on a new set...
go up to S&K off of needmore and pick a set up from scott, he used to have stock ones that he slotted,he also had APE's on the board to.
somtimes ebay has new and or used ones pretty cheap..

Maro,

I saw the pics of your bike in the other thread, very very nice.

Don't worry about changing anything on that bike right now. (This is assuming that it is running good). You should get good performance out of that setup if it is tuned to run properly. You won't have any problems with running velocity stacks in city commuting. I had a tuned 550 running no aircleaner or stacks for quite a while doing high speed city commuting.:D It will not be an issue. Put some miles on the bike and then start assessing whether you want to make any changes.

In the mean time enjoy what you got. There are starving kids in China who don't have 16 valve GS's with 33mm smoothbores and velocity stacks.;)

Let's just say the bike ((1100E)) I put a deposit down on and will hopefully, successfully be picking up on Sunday (fingers crossed), has velocity stacks in place. From everything I've read, velocity stacks are a no no for a daily commuter.

Do I simple replace with Pods? I've read here there is nearly no re-jetting if this happens? How simple is this and what are my other options?

You may have convinced me my friend! It's getting cold now. I need to get her running (I'll be doing this within next couple days, bypassing the clutch relay) and take some rides with this set-up. I have all winter to sort out carbs. GOOD CALL.

Maybe I'll just throw some stockings over the stacks for good measure. :D

Be careful slipping anything over those stacks like "stockings". Those carbs will suck something like that into them and then you will have a problem.

What is wrong with it now that needs attention? I didn't realize you had a clutch switch problem. Maybe you mentioned it in the other thread.
