DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Riding my "T"

Looks like your chain could use a little love, but otherwise, looks good.:)

My whole bike needs love...but I get where you're coming from.

Right now, I'm concentrating on my brakes. Once I get to the rear drum brakes, that's when I'll make an effort with the chain.

Sorry if I'm coming across a little snide...I don't wanna scare you off from future replies.

Attacking each facet of this bike is a goal of mine...as is for most GSers on here; making the time to do it however, is another matter.

I'm learning as I go...and it's invaluable information. At some point, maybe I can guide others because of what I've been through. It's all good.

Again, thanks for stopping by.

Haha that's way way cleaner than mine.

I have enough money and time this year to give her all the mechanical love she needs for the upcoming season, but the dirt, oil, oxidation and peeling paint will remain unchanged.

Tank, your bike has character just like you. I'm sure she appreciates the love.

I wanted to get a snapshot of different areas of my "T". All the feedback I get is taken with a grain of salt. It will be a transformation so these pics will tell a story.

See you around Tank!

Ed,

Function over form this time of year, mine is huddled up with a few buddies under the garage heater and a big blue cover.

It is fun to see your enthusiasm. I am also learning from your posts, thank you.

Cockeyed Clutch

Cockeyed Clutch

Your clutch arm looks to be a notch or to out of position, not allowing you the full movement.

Thank you...here's a snapshot I took a while back...I think I used it to identify engine serial number. Anyway, I'm taking my time with the adjustment so I'm walking away from it when I get frustrated.

I took a brake/break from adjusting the clutch cable and proceeded with the caliper/MC. As you can see...I'm all over the place with my work.

Thanks for the feedback. My current TDY (Temp Duty) has allowed me to concentrate my efforts on my "T". It's at my leisure so I work on her when the feeling takes over. Plus, she's in my front room next to my TV. It's hard not to look at her especially since she's been down for parts and now AWM (Awaiting Maintenance).

Condition Tag

I'm sure it won't be long before you can hang a 1574 on it again.

Serviceable Tag Baby!

And I bet you know all about DIFMs too.

Thanks for joining in on my documented story.

I love cheap good bikes. I literally laugh in my helmet with some of my GS when I enjoy how well they work, and how little I have in them. You can pull up to any V Twin cruiser on that just about, and know that yours can outrun it in every way, and it is almost FREE!!!

I think a 7" or even 8" headlight would look better. I don't mind the chrome though. Just enjoy it.

Funny you mention that about a V-Twin...my buddy has a 2010 Kawasaki and on our first ride I lost him...or rather, he couldn't keep up. He was totally buggin' about how fast my bike went. He wasn't hatin' though...just thought I rode her like my first bike.

I like the chrome too--looks good on these Vintage Bikes. My efforts are in getting my "T" operationally safe first then I'll look at other improvements.

Once I get the Clutch Cable adjusted and the Front Brakes properly bled, then I'll work on the rear drums and clean up that chain. I got the spacer so I can line up the "tower nut" and slide the cotter pin so it seats correctly.

That's what's on the horizon once I sort out my current maintenance. Thanks for your feedback!

Sun 8 Jun 2014

Beautiful day for a ride! My time is short here in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I'll have to load my bike on the trailer soon which means I'll miss rides like this.

Going to Cloudcroft

Did you get your conversion done okay? I can't get over how nice those pics are from a phone!

^^Nope, my friend backed out again. (His fiance is in town). Nevermind, like you said--"Ride it with the 630 for the time being".

It will give me something to do while I'm in Delaware before I get ready to drive to Panama City, FL. That new transmission in my Pilot will be tested!

Wow, kind of sounds like he much wasn't into working on the bike with ya:confused:

Anyways yeah, just run the 630 set up till it wears out, that should be several thousand miles. Save your 530 for now. Get your moneys worth out of it lol. Oh did you get that email I sent you with that pic for next Sat ride?

As I had mentioned before, do get a transmission cooler put on with that new one. Figure out your Gross Vehicle weight (GVW) find a cooler for that size then step it up one more size larger. Your transmission and your wallet will thank you later.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow

^^Bill,

Gonna ride with this chain for a while like you suggested. At least I have parts in-hand when the time comes.

See you tomorrow for our ride to Ruidoso!

Not riding my "T" for a while...she needs maintenance (MX). First, gotta take her home then bring her to northern Florida to complete minor MX.

So you're moving to Panama City, or is that just a temp stop?
