    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

right bank of cylinders issue

I noticed today that i had a slight backfire at low rpm on my right side. I shut down the bike and tapped the exhaust. The left side was hot to the touch. The right side i could wrap my fist around.

My question is this. What should be my progression of things to check. My first thought was to check for spark, at the plug and then the coil. But after that i am not sure what to check next.

I want to go into this with a plan in case it is not just a wire.

I started the bike again to check to see of i had exhaust flow out of both sides.I did so now i am also wondering if instead of my right bank not firing, could my left bank be running hot?

No, 3+4 are dead

Don't ever touch the pipes - use a spray bottle and see how it sizzles on the head pipe

Your carbs are likely clogged

The first thing to do is to ask yourself "how long have I owned this bike?". The next thing to ask yourself is "how much of the neglected maintenance have I NOT done?"

If you have just gotten the bike, there is a rather comprehensive list of basic maintenance that needs to be caught up before you can reallly trust the bike.

You may have AIR flow, but that does not mean that the fuel mixture that
might have been added at the carbs got burnt.

Air flow only shows that the valves are opening approximately the right amount at approximately the right time. If your carbs are clogged (which is quite common) or your spark is not working properly, you will only have AIR flow, not EXHAUST flow.
