A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

80gs1000e

Guest
I'm wanting to update the right side controls on my 80gs1000e.

Anybody know of a nice modern alternative that could be rigged up?

Perhaps a Bandit, SV, GSXR?

I'm using something like 2000 GSXR switchgear for the left controls on my bike. On the right I have a Yosh piece with kill switch, starter switch, and a headlight switch. You should easily be able to adapt something newer.

Why do you need all that fancy stuff. Just let some bare wires dangle and touch them together when you need to. That's what I do......

I used Bandit switches for my GS850 for both the left and the right side. Fairly easy swap.

I'm looking at doing the same thing in light of my cafe racer build.
I cant find any controls that will do Kill switch, and ignition button.
I can find indicators/horn switch. But nothing for kill and start button. I want something chrome. I know they exist but i have no idea where to get them.

These are so ugly.
You'll probably have to look at cruiser stuff if you want chrome. Trouble is most of them use larger diameter bars.

Forget the Bandit switches. They look good, but don't look 'great' in my opinion.

I just bought these...I bought 2. One side will be a kill switch & start button & on/off/hi-beam for the headlights. The other side will be indicator and horn. One button will have no functionality on that side. Unless I decide to add something later like a cigarette lighter switch or something.

You could just get this if u just want indicator.

and a 2 way switch..

I really wanted this...but they dont make a matching left side. And I like symmetry.
Good luck on the HUNT!

Nice.

I actually went with GSXR stuff, can't wait to get it/get it working.

You could just go redneck and use a piece of aluminum angle with u-bolts and lighted toggle switches from the closest truck stop....:D Might start a trend....
