    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rigid frame ride height suggestions. Racers out there??

Can any racers out there advise me on what frame height (ground to bottom of engine cradle tube) to use in my rigid frame set up? I've heard mad men run 2.5 in. and the stock ('79 gs1000) height has to be around 9 in. (I?m guessing). Does building my bike with a frame height of approx. 7in seem to extreme for street use? It would help me a lot if some had the chance to hop on their gs1000 and grab a ground to bottom of frame tube (engine cradle) measurement for me.

Mark, I have an 82GS1100E that is slammed. From the ground to the bottom of the lowest tube is between 3.5 and 4". I run a 95 gsxr750 front end, and wheels. I'm waiting for struts to be made, but for measurments I removed the springs from the rear shocks to see where it needed to sit. This bike is a daily driver for me. Pretty sick huh! Hope this helps. I have pics posted on bikepics.com I tried posting them in the GS gallery, still under review i guess.

Thanks for the number. Yes 4" is sick. Any problems on the street with 4"?. I was just going to tell my dad to make the swingarm parallel with the lowest tube frame. Do your swingarm and frame tube seem to be on the same line when looking at your bike from the side?

Love the stance of your bike. With a turbo I wont need to worry about exhaust clearance too much...

Being that low, I have to slow down quite a bit for turns and railroad crossings. I had to get the frontend fitted first to check height, that gave me a better idea of how to set up the rear. Adam
