    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ripped carb diaphrams repair?

I finally got some 34mm gsxr carbs and I have put them on the bike and it's running weird. Well conclusion I have come up with is the diaphrams are leaking/ripped on 2 of the 4 slides. What product would be the best to fix the diaphrams? I think the diaphrams may be seperated from the slides where they connect because I cannot see any actual rips just some places where they are worn a little and I think if there was just a pin hole leak they would still lift. I am holding the vacuum on the intake side of the carbs with the slides open and one slide lifts ~7/8 of the way and the other about 3/4 and the other two do not lift at all. I have switched the slides around from carb to carb and it still does it with that slide so it's not the bodies that are causing the problem. Anyway I think I'm going to try to seal the diaphrams. What do you guys suggest?

I think you'll find that the only satisfactory "fix" will be to replace the bad diaphrams. Carb racks are abundant on ebay and you should be able to find a cheap set where you can get some that are in good shape. Also, you'll end up with some other parts that may come in handy 'down the road'.:-D

My suggestion? Get new diaphragms. As chuckycheese suggested, you can get another rack of carbs, or you can break down and just get new diaphragms. If you get all four, you won't have to worry about them for another 20-25 years. Shop around, I have seen prices range from $65 to $130 for stock 850 carbs.

If you are going to throw it away anyway it can't hurt to try a repair first.
 
I've used the spray rubber as a temp fix and it worked until I found some other diaphragms.

I apologize for being juvenile, but I can't keep a straight face.

Seriously though, I actually want to know what product you're talking about.

The diaphragm takes too long to install. Ruins the mood. :-D
Napa has the spray rubber.
