I decided to post a new thread for some additional visibility to the people frequenting the carb/fuel forum.
This is related to my 1978 GS1000E restoration
http://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...S1000E-Restoration-Performance-Rebuild/page59
Quick motor specs:
Wiseco 1100 big bore kit
Ported heads
Oversized valves
More aggressive cams - see specs below

Carbs - Mikuni RS34's
Current jetting specs:
#20 Pilot (originally 17.5)
#125 Main (stock)
9DZH1 needle (stock), -3 clip position
#568, P-4 needle jet (stock)
Accelerator pumps are tuned to start at 1/4 throttle and end at 3/4 throttle
Here's what I'm trying to tune out:
Sneezing and flat acceleration from 1/8 throttle to just over 1/4 throttle with GENTLE turning of the throttle. If I mash the throttle, the accelerator pumps kick in and the aforementioned problem is less obvious.
I had a 17.5 pilot jet and had a lot of sneezing through the carbs at 1/8 throttle. Pilot fuel screw was maxed out. Installed a #20 pilot jet and had my fuel screw set to 1/4 turn (range is 1/4 to 1/2 on the RS carbs). 95% of the sneezing disappeared. Decided to open the fuel screws another 1/8 turn and ride the bike - sneezing is no better/no worse, but the idle got a bit worse, indicating that I may be running a bit rich. My plan is to go back to a 1/4 turn (maybe a hair more) on the fuel screws.
At this stage, I'm thinking about raising the needle by one position.
Your input is greatly appreciated!
