    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Runs about 15 mins dies appears flooded

So what is going on.
The bike has to sit before it starts and acts just like its flooded so is it the needle valves?

If so why 15 mins?
Bike runs like a bat out of hell up to that point.
 
It probably does that because we don't have a clue what bike you are talking about. :-k

Sorry, that's not why it's happening, but it would still help to know what bike. :o

it is a 85 550E
 
My 84 550EF was doing that and it was a leaking petcock. Try running it on prime with the vacuum port plugged (at carbs and petcock).

You could suck on the vacuum port of the petcock and not get liquid fuel, but it definately tasted of fuel. I only really figured it out when I happened to look down at the carbs and see fuel dribbling out of one.

She now runs great, but I need a new petcock.

well there was this puddle of gas a while back
I will give it a try right now
 
I plugged my hose and went for a drive.
Bike hauls much harder now and I did not notice it start to flood.

I could not go for a long drive beacuse I was sacred I would run out of gas on prime.
 
I run my bike on prime all the time now. You just need to remember to turn it back to run or reserve when you stop. This is so that you reduce the risk of dumping fuel into the oil by over powering the float needles when you are parked with the bike on prime allowing fuel to run staight into the cylinders through the carbs.

But hey, at least you can ride for longer than 15 minutes now!
 
Hey, a new petcock in Australia is about 1/4 the price of my bike! There is a difference to being cheap, and just not being able to afford it right now.

Of course if you have a spare one lying around and want to send it over, I'll not complain:D
