    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 82 gs1100gk would a seat from a 83 gs1100gld fit my bike looks the same on front and looks lik the latch in back would bolt on could not tell on bike bandit. seat looks a little diffrent dont have the seat yeat just looking at a picture on the internet

I lost you after "I have a 82 gs1100gk..."

I have an 84 GK, and all GK seats are interchangeable.
 
A friend of mine has an '82 GK and I just so happen to have a seat from an '83 GLD. The next time he's over I'll see if it will fit but that might not be for a week or so. Can you wait that long ?

Your post is a bit clearer now. (Once in a while, please use punctuation to make it easier for old farts like me to understand what you're saying.)

In answer to what I think your question is: No, the seat off a GS1100GLD will not fit a GK.

The following stock seats will fit your GK:

1. 1982 GS850GZ and 1983 GS850GD.
2. 1982 GS1100GZ and 1983 GS1100GD.
3. Any seat off any year GS1100GK (Z, D, or E), (82, 83, or 84)

The "L" model seat is not compatible with these.
 
I've got a seat that was supposed to fit an '80 GS1000G but the mounting tabs are 7 inches apart, center to center. My '80 seat is 8 inches center to center on the tabs. Any idea which model this seat would fit ? It's NOS, never been mounted on a bike before. I'd like to sell it because I have no use for it but then, I also don't know what it goes to.

The seat for a GS1000G fits the early GS850G's, (79, 80, and 81). It will not fit a GK.

Saddelmans seat covers web site lists 2 types of seats for the gk, a double saddle and an LTD style. I would like to order the ltd style as I think the saddle is kind of ugly. here is the site address.

It is $134.00 and includes new foam. What are your thoughts. Has any one purchased on of these? My GK is MINT except for the seat. At 31200 miles it is too soft and strating to crack, but I'm not sure what this seat will look like. Any one have input? thanks
