SH775 R/R ordered Quick question to those that made the switch.

Ok, old replacement R/R died (unless there's another answer for a 18volt reading at 5000rpm across the battery leads) Ordered a SH775 on Ebay from DBElectrical.. Now the question.

Does anyone know where to get the connectors that fit the R/R unit? I've searched on ebay, amazon and even drove down to the Polaris dealership (who looked at me like I was an idiot...he might not be wrong) who couldn't find the part or the part number for the pigtail for the R/R unit. The R/R unit get's here on monday 8/13.... would LOVE to figure something out other than solder and epoxy in the connector port. Meanwhile I'll be cleaning fuse box and wiring harness connectors and checking continuity.
Thanks for your help in advance. sh775.jpg

i bought this kit from amazon. Worked perfectly. there are no instructions, so make sure you get your wires crimped on the terminals, and the terminals in the right slot before you put the locking rectangular block in.

My concern for you is (if the pic you posted above is the RR you bought) that you may have bought a shunt RR knock-off, and not a series SH775. They look the same, the connectors look the same. As far as I know, unless the unit is dirty and used, like this one, and actually has SH775 stamped on the top fin, it's probably not the real deal.

You did not buy a SH775, that's a knockoff shunt type R/R. The real deal Shindengen SH775 is a SERIES type R/R that protects the stator.

As for the harness, you can get a Triumph harness listed under P/N T2500676 which works well for adaptation. It's got the proper connectors too, pre crimped.

You can buy brand new SH775's but the price has gone through the roof on them. A couple years back they were $70 new, now they are more than double that. Finding a used unit is the way to go, and making sure the lettering is on it before purchase assures that. Good advice. I've never heard of anyone getting a bad SH775, even the used units, so the risk is low.

well, I guess it will do for a time.. like the last 2 shunt R/R's I've used.... I'll put it together and bite the bullet on price for the fall make-over... Thanks for the information.. but I'll live with what I bought for the rest of this riding season... I plan to do some major work once the weather turns this fall/winter. Gaskets and major rewire rebuild the brake calipers and masters.

ok, I bought that one... maybe DB electrical will take the other back..or I'll just keep it as a spare... I'm done buying sh*t for the day... lol

which one did you buy. I went back and checked my link and it went to a different item. So I changed my post to another $40 one. Maybe because you bought that $25.00 one But if you have a link to actual item you bought I'd feel better that I didn't give you the wrong link.

Your link and the one I originally posted go to an item that has this picture. IMG_0154.jpg
And that's not a SH775. Something goofy happened with the link and I don't know why. A sH775 will wave the stamp on the top fin as in fastbysuzuki's picture above. It may be on the back as well but I don't think so.

This is a screenshot of the one I bought... Ebay links refresh so you will buy what is available 1ibot.jpg Thanks for your help...

Glad to help. I just went through this myself. Good luck.
I assume you're getting good voltage from your stator, around 90VAC on each of the 3 legs and no legs shorting to ground?
I (and everybody else) also suggest eliminating the headlamp loop if you haven't already. And use a single point ground.

2 months ago I replaced a burnt out chinese stator with one from Rick's Electronics... of course as I'm putting things back together I'll check those voltages.. but I think the main fuse blew before much or any damage was done. ... but I'm going to take my time and run through all the checks... I've been meaning to do the headlight loop ... anyone know where the link to that is?

I got the used one that showed the "SH775" stamped on the Stainless steel base.... 25.99 free shipping...

Thanks... I did look at a couple ..but coupled with the advice given that even a used one has been tried and true.

They will NEVER have anything stamped on the metal base.

Your link took me to this picture:

That is not a 775, either.
Wrong connectors and fins are going the wrong direction.

The link that Rich posted took me to this one. Note the round bits on the fins and the "SH775" on the BACK fin.

EDIT: I just looked at the listing for the one you linked to. To your credit, it does say it came from a RZR800, but that was a 2010 model, before they switched to fuel injection and the SH775 regulator. I think they started using the 775 in 2012.

I know Steve.. I mistyped... I'm having problems with the pictures in this forum.... that is where the SH775 is stamped.. Edit: I should have said "I know that NOW"... was not trying to sound dismissive or ungrateful for the help I get here.

Yikes! I checked the link from my order confirmation email from when I bought my R/R new from Polaris. $152! In the email I paid $71. I guess it WAS a couple of years ago already. None the less if I couldn't find a used one I'd probably pay $152 for a new one, it just works so well - worry free. The Triumph connector is what I used.

Which one did you buy as in your post 11 that shows a sh775 sold by powersportsnation ( a good seller).
Link in your post 9 shows a Chinese knock off shunt.

Ebay links are notoriously bad and take you to available items not items that have been sold... I bought two R/R units yesterday.. One arrived today.. VERY quick delivery from DB Electrical the unit looks like a SH775 ... but I'm reliably told it's not a series unit..but a look alike knock off shunt type. I only spent 50 bucks for it... I may or may not try to get my money back or just keep it as a spare/souvenir. The other one I bought is a used SH775 from a reliable seller on Ebay... sh775.jpg I've been having bad luck with pictures on this forum... so we'll see if that one shows the other one I bought.
