A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I got over my sticker shock and dropped $450 on one of these today.
It was the only helmet I tired that was comfortable on my XXL skull.
Everything else seems to have been made for a person with a tiny shoebox shaped head. You knew the cheap ones were garbage before trying them so I an my sore ears gave up.

I have a round skull and this thing fits perfectly no uncomfortable pressure points. Finish is superb like all things Japanese.

Nice lining and weird vent things which I never had before.
I was driving a long time before I put down the visor.
I grew accustomed to not using my old one because it was scratched. Force of habit is strong yes?

Anyways what they say about getting what you pay for is true about this helemet. I was getting scared that only the 7-800 price range would suit my princess and the pea cranium.

Oh and new helmet smell is fabulous. it is so much nicer than the death smell of an old helmet.

I picked up one just before Christmas. Only have used it on a few short rides but will put it to the test tomarrow. I like so far.

After 26 years with my trusty Vetter helmet, I finally broke down and bought a RF-1000 last year. Amazing - what a difference.

I looked at the RF1100 and liked it very much, it fit me better than the QWEST, but still knocked my forehead a bit. I think either way I would have had to order thinner cheek pads. My current Shoei is 17, so it's time to go. Oh and the fabulous world of pinlock visors, who knew!?

What is a pinlock visor?

I am trying to read the manual and figure this locking mechanism. The translation is beautiful like the japanese of old.

nary a pinlock to be seen.
Interesting double shield though.
Now I'm sad.

ha. I wouldn't be sad with that helmet pinlock or not. Perhaps when the visor scratches and you wish to not simply ride with it open (ha) a pinlock replacement would be in order?

What colour did you pick up?

Went with the matte black. They did not have any nice solids that would fit me and I refuse to wear a clown helmet on anything but a clown painted bike.
