I have a Kerker 4-1 with the megaphone. I hate the looks and the sound. I do like the header though. Any thoughts on something to replace the meg with?

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Jethro said:The stocker- my favorite. I gained 12 MPG when I went from my 4-1 and jet kit to stock! Just my opinion.
Boondocks said:I did the same thing, took off the Kerker 4 into 1 and went back to stock. I have been happier with the sound, look and overall tuning with the stock setup. The main advantage of most 4-1 setups is that they weigh about 20 lbs. less, achieved by lower quality single wall (ugly blue) tubing and one loud muffler.
Jethro said:I know, isn't it unreal how heavy the stock pipes are? I've never had dual pipes on my GS's, and I love it. It's like going from mono to stereo! And thank god for the center stand!! I've missed that thing big time. Did you gain major mileage also? I think I'm getting at least 50 MPG on my 1100E, and I ride like a fool most the time. I can go almost 180 miles before hitting reserve, and my Pingel leaves about 2 gallons in the tank before reserve.
Most manufacturers made street and race baffles for their pipes. The race baffles usually had larger openings and flowed more. This also made more noise. The baffles, street or race, are supposed to be wrapped with a fiberglass pad or other packing material which softens the tone of the pipe. A pipe with no packing sounds 'raspy'. This packing doesn't last too long and must be replaced periodically. Your V&H should have a removeable baffle. You'll probably find there is little or no packing in the baffle.MinnesotaTim said:Joe:
What is a "street baffle"? I've got a VH 4 into 1 setup on a 1982 GS750E and I am looking to quiet it down.
