DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have never has teh correct side covers for my '80 GS850G so I zip tied a set of GT550 side covers to the bike. I went to Skycycle in Lunenburg, MA. to see if they had side covers for my bike the guy produced a black right side cover that had GS850G emblem on it, and another brown left side cover that had a GS1100G emblem on it. Both with the same mount patter so I bought them. Well my bike has a puch post at teh bottom and TWO SQUARE HOOKS AT THE TOP!! The ones I bought have push posts one on the bottom and two at the top!! Did the mount diff. from year to year!!!

I haven't seen the square-hooks type yet. Lots of GS-series three-post style in different shapes, sure.

I'm not sure if the guys at Sky salvage will let you trade the sidecovers for other ones that have the correct mounting. If they don't, I'd say put the covers and emblems up on Fleabay, and continue your quest (bring your bike or photos of the frame mounts and some measurements, like on the side of the triangle that can be drawn from hook to hook to post)

I haven't been out to Sky in a while, but i'm planning on going sometime soon.

If you go back to Sky cycle, ask for Kevin.
'He's an ok guy and knows his stuff.
Should be able to trade/barter those covers for the correct ones.
If you can, bring the bike with you so you can actually see them fit.

Thanks vincat!! I have the GT550 covers on there now they have the two top hooks and one BOLT pattern but hook loops are MUCH closer together than the correct '80 GS850G ones. I will call Kevin at Sky and see if he will barter for the correct ones. Any one out there have the Top Hook and post '79-'82 GS850 and GS1100G style EVEN cracked around!!

I have a set that's from a 1980 I think because they are blue. No cracks or breaks and paint is pretty nice. 2 rectangular hooks on top and 1 post on bottom. I bought them for spares and never needed them. I paid $50.00 for them, pm me if your interested.
