A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does anyone know how to intall the sidestand switch that lights up the light on the speedometer? I bought a switdch off ebay and can't figure out how to install it on the kickstand base.

Nobody knows how to do this? I can't seem to find any information or pictures on how it goes on the kickstand base. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Assuming the bike was already fitted with a side stand switch...if you lay down and look up at the side stand you will see the switch with 2 wires coming out of it, just forward of the stand, just under your exhaust...there you should see 2 bolts, heads facing in towards the center of the bike i think...these should be 7 or 8 mm remeove and replace....after you install, turn the key on but don't start the bike and adjust the switch forward or back so that the light is off when the stand is up (hopefully you also have a center stand...makes the job sooo much easier lol)...anyways that is how i did it on my 850 and i think it's the same on the 1100's..if not someone should be along shortly to correct me...woulndn't be the first time or the last...lol

Hi Iceman, thanks for the reply. Yes it was fitted with the side stand switch and the previous owner removed it for some reason so there's not one on there now. I bought a switch of ebay and it came with a spring on the end of it. What is the spring for and where does that attach to? It also looks like the spring needs to pull the shaft of the switch out to activate the switch in which the shaft normally seats in. Is there a bracket that attaches the switch to the sidestand base? Thanks for your help.

Mike

there should be a hook for the little spring on your kickstand or it hooks to the big kickstand spring itself hook
