A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

At the bottom of the cover a braided cloth looking wire enters through a elongated hole. There used to be a rubber gskt that went around the wire but it leaked so. I discarded it. I tried filling the hole and surrounding the wire with permetex form a gskt bit it still leaks. Anyone had this problem. Any ideas please. I have a Gs 1100 81 I think It's a ex not sure its chain drive and blue in color.

Is this the small cover on the RH side of the engine? If so, there shouldn't be any oil behind the cover. My guess is the crankshaft seal is leaking. I've heard of people replacing them (check the archvies) but have never done so myself on a bike with the engine together.

That's not cool. Yes it is the right cover. Thanks. Where do I find the archives

Hooowdy Brother, I Did my carbs thanks to you :):D . But before I get into the bike stuff: let me thank you for your surprising WELCOME! That was so cool. I looked at it just now to see if anyone had responsed. Oh yea nice warm welcome. I would like to put the animated symbols in this and even tried. Just to return the gratitude but didn't know how. I did the carb thing already. Took it to. A local shop to c how much it would cost to synchronize. The guy says it sounds like you have a low speed jet plugged. It stays up on high rpm to long when u rev it up. He didn't think the synchronizing would help. So yea I'm in a chrondry about that too. And of course my little oil leak. Which Ed kindly informed me about that sweet little issue. Yep project bike. It seems its parked more than driven. I like the blue machine though oddly enough. She kinda grows on ya. So thanks to all and I appreciate all the help you guys can give. This is a great forum how others help others out

If you have a high idle then it says you also have a vacuum leak some place. In that maintenance list you'll see the points about changing out your intake boots (IF NEEDED) and your intake orings - definitely. This along with sealing up your air box should help that.
