78 Suzuki GS1000 - $3000 (Gilbert)
1978 Suzuki GS1000E Restored 2007. Original GS1000 restored and built with wrecked 1982 Suzuki GS1100 pieces, including carbs, brakes, aluminum swingarm and engine. Includes title to engine / wrecked bike. Wiseco 10.25:1 cr 1166cc piston kit; cylinder head work and valve job professionally done. Vance and Hines 4:1 header and OEM GS1000 exhaust (fits) in good condition. Dynojet kit can be set up for either. K&N air filter. Dyna ignition and coils. Charging stator has been replaced; fuse box rebuilt using ATC style fuse box; electrical system in good condition. 1 yr. old AGM battery, leads for and battery tender included. Fuel gauge inop. Speedo says 34k miles, but reality is 51k miles. Wiseco kit done at 45k miles.
Snowmobile derived float bowl EZ drain kit to keep carbs in good shape in between rides....
New Michelin Pilot Activ tires, 530 chain and sprockets. New paint in 2012, but gas tank leaked and had to be Kreem coated and touched up. Later, some of the paint puckered around the gas cap. The gauges bounce a little. This is an awesome old bike with a ton of power and awesome torque. New? No. It is nearly 36 yrs. but in great condition. That said, I have no idea if it will haul you all the way to Manitoba, etc. I used to commute every day 52 miles round trip on it, but now it only does about 32 miles a week. It is well sorted, starts, goes and stops well. I added an OEM GS1150 oil cooler last year to help with the summer heat. Ferodo brake pads and stainless steel brake lines. It IS that nice.
