That's the question. I see a handful of new pipes for the 16v models but little to nothing for us 8v guys. What's a guy to do? Will any of the 16v pipes with a little persuasion? A lot of persuasion?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What I would do(just did with my 850) is weld a new system up to the stock headers. Cost me $12 for the pipe and I used some mufflers I had. I'm sure you could get a 16v system to work with a few torches and some elbow grease.

Didn't slow down my 850! And cost me $15.00 for two of them(almost brand new)at swap meet. terrylee

I am working on getting mine refurbished. I have 4 sets of GS1100G pipes and they all have rattling (loose) baffles but are actually in pretty decent condition.
The headers are easily restored and re-chromed but there is quite a bit of work to be done on the mufflers. These are substantial and heavy bits of kit and I am pretty sure they can be salvaged. Just finding the right guy to do it.
For instance, I had a radiator refurbishment company cut open my petrol tank underneath. They then shot blasted all the rust out, sealed it, replaced the cut out panel and made good. See my blog posting about the fuel tank:

I reasoned that there should be no problem doing the same procedure on a muffler. Cut a panel out, shot blast the insides, fix/weld the internal baffles and any other problems and weld it back up and then re-chrome. See my blog posting about that here:

Clearly this is not going to be a cheap option but if you are looking for an original set, there has to be some one out there that could do that for you. I was quoted a price of around ?700 GBP (or $1,100) just to re-chrome a full set of mufflers and headers. But they would look damn fine!
