A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Would you be willing to sell an original as a kit? IE all the parts and such, but i have solder it together? I have a nice weller WD01 soldering iron and the will to wield it.

Sorry see my response to 81GS850 on the subject.

No, and I didn't realize how close everything was packed in there. I'm just referencing the Megasquirt which to me should be way more complicated electronics wise, yet they put together a kit that allows the DIYer to build it. If it can't be done I understand, but I just thought I'd ask.

I'm familiar with the mega squirts, the kits are designed to be DIY and the kits use pretty much only through hole parts.

In the SSPB design, matching the OEM fuse box foot print was a big driver, not so much because of board area but the narrow space available to squeeze the 10 pin molex connector in on one end and still carry 10 amps per channel. I was well into the layout before I was even sure if I could even make it fit with a 2 layer board. Nothing is super small (I try not to go below 1mm spacing), but other than the power parts they are all soldered/reflowed using a magnifying glass. I'm not saying that nobody will be able to do it, but it will be very few and not really worth the bother.

Then the whole thing is epoxy bonded to the heat sink, now I have to have instruction on that. I have learned the hard way that the 50-50 mixture has to be very close otherwise the thing never goes off and you just have a bunch of goo on the parts and $10 worth of wasted epoxy.

I use my test box to test this thing several times including stressing/testing before I commit to the epoxy encapsulation. You want instruction on how to build a production test box as well.

my 2 cents love it
built like tank and tested, works great

Yes i could build one but i am one of the few who can do SSI (small scale intergration) when my hands will work :>)
keep up the excellent work Posplayr!

Lets get realistic here guys. The stock replacement for my fuse box is about $45.00, and good fuse boxes replacements a lot more than that. If you are not willing to pay a fair price for what Jim is proposing, it's never going to get off the ground. Just my two cents.

For me I liked the build quality of the original I am the kind of person that would rather pay more to get the best and I feel the original was easily worth $200
Standard fitment doesn't bother me as I mounted mine under the tank.
i hope you get more of these made I would put one on any of my future project bikes
keep up the good work jim
