A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Solid State Power Box STANDARD INSTALLATION

Hi all:

If anyone has installed the sspb on a 1000, I was wondering about the wiring change in the headlight bucket?
Got everything wired up right, I think, except for that.
What color wires do you need to use, in the bucket?

I know Jim isn't accepting e-mail or I would have contacted him.

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you, Sir!!

I have it over at friends garage, where we did everything but the headlight bucket connections.

He was helping me yesterday, since he solders for living, and we were not sure about the yellow wire from the
harness to the connection in the bucket. The connection from the sspb to the starter relay was also done.

When he texted me last night, after I left, I realize we forgot the yellow wire connecting the ignition switch.
He wasn't sure because of stock wire colors in the bucket, I think. I left him with the manual and sent him a copy of the GS1000 manual so he could see the diagram.

When connected the fault light came on but no ignition. Then he thought that the ignition wasn't connected....

I will get back to you privately, thanks again POSPLAYER!

The Yellow pigtail on Molex Pin 4 of the SSPB is the START input (from kill switch push button start) in order to cutout the headlamp during startup. As indicated in the table connect to the Y/G (Yellow/Green) You can easily find this wire at the solenoid. It looks like this is connected correctly.

The other signal that is probably confusing you is the IGN ON signal which also comes from the kill switch to indicate the ignition should be on. This involves the O/G output of the kill switch.

You can route a separate wire from kill switch to the SSPB , but there is already one available (Lg/W) when you got rid of the stator headlamp loop.

This diagram in the manual shows a typical set of changes. Your may be slightly different but the wire colors will be the same.

Thanks Jim, for the responses!

I think the IGN ON signal is what we need to be concerned with.
I will get back to the bike's location and finish up, hopefully this weekend.
