A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

some help for a newbie would be much appreciated

i take straight shots. the forum turns them.
What do you use for a camera?

If you use an iPhone or some other "smart" phone that has an "auto rotate" feature, that might be what is turning them.

I use a real camera, have never had any problems with picture rotation.

Yeah, iphone. Thanks for the info!

and as for the carbs thanks for all the help! I'm feelin the love here!

So when I bought the bike, the guy told me he just had the carbs rebuilt. he gave me another set with it. as far as I can tell, they're the exact same. here's photos of them, taken with a big boy camera not my iphone :), I still see no air/fuel screw.

you can see the combined air/fuel screws in the 5th pic, at the bottom of the carbs

ok, on my current set that are on the bike, they're all in all the way. I was starting to loosen one and some fuel came out of the stem there at the bottom so I stopped.

you are undoing the drain screws, the air/fuel screws are further up at the front, just below the bowl mating surface

Victory at last!! Thanks everyone!! if I'm gonna find gaskets for these, how hard is that gonna be?

You're going to have to find out 'exactly' what carbs they are first, or rip them apart and start guessing at the "exact" size of the o-rings you need. Z1 enterprises has a decent inventory of Kawasaki carb stuff, and some good info on there about Kawi carbs. Did you ever find any numbers on the side of the bodies?

my guess is early Z1 carbs, 74 or 75 maybe. possibly VM28SC. note the idle adjuster screw is up the top and TWIN fuel inlets, make them unique to the early Kwaks (and of course, the lack of air screws).

also 2 vents but no take off for vacuum fuel tap

just got back from the shop, consensus is Vm26's after they measured them. perhaps off of a '79 Kawasaki.
