A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks!
You, Ryan (Firstimer) and TomMLC set the bar kinda high for me. I was keeping up with how all you guys were painting your 78 1000's and decided I had to at least attempt to be a little different. (Mine was almost red twice and almost black once) :-D
Then I hit on this: What if Suzuki made a 1000S in 1978? What would it look like?
Looking at the old 70's era two strokes like the GT750, the Wes Cooley racebike and other period bikes, this is what I imagined one might have looked like.

Best regards, Jeff

With my new project, I'm kind of thinking along the same lines, except my theme will be "what if Suzuki made an 1150E styled bike in '78". I'm going with a silver frame, black motor, black pipe, and the same blue and white that is on my 1150, but in a "Skunk" theme of some sort. She'll be the 1150's "older sister"

That'll be cool.
I think going with a factory theme in a custom way is a good challenge.
If executed it properly, the folks that don't "get it" still think it's nice and the folks that do "get it" are even more impressed.

Once you get that fairing on, that is REALLY going to look sweet. A Wes Cooley Skunk.... love it! :-D

I like the blacked-out wheels, too. How did you do them?

Etching primer and single stage satin black.

Color Billy, COLOR!
Thank you Billy, I'm proud of how it turned out.

Best regards, Jeff

Jeff, give up. Billy is from Canada. They spell things funny up that way....
:-D EXCELLENT work, sir. Excellent!!

That is one beautiful bike, Jeff!! Any chance you might parade it through the Galena Rally for us?

Regards,

I got a few less smurfy pics today.

Sweet looking paint!

So how'd your friend get the black pinstripes and the white "skunk" stripes so perfect?

Thanks.
I think 14 years of practice was how he was able to pull it off so well. :-D
To tell you the truth, I think the stripes he did on my 550 were actually harder to do.

May I ask how the emblems were restored? They look brand spankin new! Mine look so bad I don't even want to put them back on the bike after the paint job....

You can still buy them new from Suzuki,

Bruce is right, thats where mine came from. Be aware though: the repro emblems are gold, not silver.

I decided to give the gold emblems a chance before I passed judgement on 'em. I'm glad I did, they look way better in gold. (IMO) :-D

Agreed. The silver would have washed out to white and looked monochrome on the stripe.
