I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Source needed for brake cylinder boot

Okay, here's my predicament. I'm restoring a '77 RD400. If you don't know what an RD is, some day you will. Anyway, most brake parts are no longer available. With that in mind, I need some suggestions as to where I can find a rubber dust boot that will fit the rear master cylinder. The OD slides over the outside of the master cylinder. The ID fits into a groove on the actuating shaft. I have tried NAPA, Yamaha dealerships, hardware stores and a few auto parts places with no luck. I realize this is not a GS. However, I have learned over the years that the members of this board are, by far, the most helpful and imaginative of any board I've been on. Speaking of other boards, I have posted requests for rear mater cylinder parts on 2 classic 2-stroke boards. Lots of views but not one reply.
Thanks for your time and help,
Willie

Yes it does. I KNEW I could count on this board and you, Steve, especially you. LOL Seriously though, thanks alot!

RD 400 was the first 'big' bike I rode. Spent 20 minutes virtually sh1tting myself, and the next 30 years trying to replicate my youth.

Then you can relate to what I'm trying to do. :) I bought an RD400 brand new in '76. As luck would have it, I bought a lemon. Of all things wrong, it had low compression due to the ports being in the wrong location. Even worse, Yamaha refused to honor the warranty on the grounds that I took it apart to find out the cause of the low compression. That left a bad taste in my mouth for Yamaha. On the bright side, that experience resulted in my life long love of Suzukis, especially the GTs and GS's. I've yet to decide if I'll keep the RD once I get it back on the road. Thanks again,
Willie

As far as 2-strokes go, I'm a big GT fan. But, for balls-out performance on a lightish bike, the RD is difficult to beat. Maybe a KH is better in a straight-line...

I'll have another RD one day.....

SVSooke, subtle hint appreciated and apologies extended. If its any consolation, I considered posting in the "proper" location first. I decided to post here instaed though because I felt that it'd get a quicker response. I don't know if that logic was correct or not but it did result in a response within 10 minutes. I also didn't expect it to go any longer than my response to Steve's suggestion. Now that it has, I'd be happy to end it here. I'll respond to Agemax's post with a PM. Again, sorry for posting in the wrong location. NO sarcasm implied.
Willie

Not a big deal thing but I lobbied for the "other" section.Got what you needed here so I'm fine with that.

Understood and really a great idea worth lobbying for. I'll be sure to post there as this project gets going.
