    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Spacer question

I put my back wheel assembly together on the bike and the rear caliper seems off.


Note the distance in the pads to the rotor and how they are off





Both pistons are pushed in and pads are real close to the same thickness.

The wheel free spins but lightly catches the outer pad.



So my question is am i good or is something wrong?

All looks good to me. Have you done it all up tight, mite be a bearing sitting proud off its seat. Did you clean all the powdercoating/paint from where seals or the disc sits? It still paint or stuff on the wheel where the disc sits will make it sit further out. Worse case you just put one washer each side between the caliper and bracket t bring it out more.

Its paint and I think I got it scarped all off, but I will tear it all back down tomorrow.

I am also going to check my pile-o-parts and see if there is something like a thin washer/spacer that should be in there.

Just curious if something would stand out to somebody with more experience.

If all that you have is what was on THAT bike to me it looks like the rite parts. There shouldnt be any paint where the disc sits on the rim on BOTH rim or back of disc.
Assuming its a 1000e the spacer on the left is 20x33x28.4 and the spacer on the right is 20x38x12 with no measurements for spacer next to the wheel on RHS. Just noticed ures is a 750 but the 1978 Suzuki GS750B and all 750 models in 1978 has the same 3 spacers as a 1000. Must be a bearing not seated correctly if there the right spacers. Funny how you dont notice things till you put them back together.

Sharpy..... cleaned off every mating surface wheel and brake related. It seemed to have make it fit better. Thanx

Grand Rouge I am not sure exactly what you mean, can you explain what itis a little more?
 
Cool, it was only a little off. But great job if its central now and ure happy
