DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello!

I have a 1982 gsx1100.
The problem is that after a short ride one of the cylinders stops working,
most of the time it's the 3rd but sometimes the 4th.
When I change the plug it starts working again but only for a short time.
I tried to clean the plug and put it back again but it just won't work
If I put in an old plug or a new one it starts working.
I understand this question sounds a little stupid.(sorry) :?
If the carb setting is wrong then please tell me how to syncronise the
carbs step by step(I have all the tools I need), that woud be a big help.

I live in Hungary(that explains the strange questions and the bad english)
I tried to buy a manual for this bike but it's very expensive and I have to
wait two or three months for it and it's in german.
The easiest way to get help is this great forum. :D
By and Thanks

Sounds like you're running out of fuel in those carbs, next time it happens, try just leaving it set for a few minutes without pulling the plugs, turn petcock to prime position, wait a bit, then start,if it runs on all 4 for a while then quits again, check your float levels' height (for too low), float needles and seats for obstructions.Could also be petcock not flowing enough fuel, possible causes, leaky or pinched vacuum line, internal petcock obstruction(drain tank, remove petcock, disassemble and check)

I agree with daveo about the petcock, especially since #3 and #4 carbs are the last ones to get fuel due to the way the fuel line routes. it appears that the time you are taking to remove and replace a plug is allowing enough fuel to drain into the carb and alllow the bike to run again.

Thanks for the info , I will try that. :D
Can you help me about how to sync the carbs?
I know I have to do that because all the plugs have different colours.
