A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Well, I need to go get a spark plug wrench. I tried a couple of sizes from my neighbor, (car ones) but none fit. What size should I get?

Reason I need it is that I finally got it all back together (sorta) and it won't fire up, so I was going to start with spark, move to fuel (having petcock problems after rebuild) and go from there.

most likely you'll need an 18 mm, if you cant find one for sparkplugs, take a regular 18mm deep well and stick a piece of fuel line in it to cushion the ceramic

If you are using standard NGK plugs, a standard 13/16" inch plug wrench shuld fit. That's about the same as a 20 or 21mm metric.

hmm...so now I hear 18, 20 or 21..any other offers?
WHAT IS THE NUMBER OF YOUR SPARK PLUG AND DON'T YOU HAVE A REPAIR MANUAL?? :) MY 1100E HAS 18MM

As I recall he has a 16 valve GS750...that would require the same plugs as you and I, Scotty.

Why guess and check when you can very easily take the spark plug with you to a store? Unless you're ordering online...

Just a thought.

booboo, 'tis kinda hard to take it to the store when it's still attached to the bike, and the bike won't start, dontcha think?

:D

I ended up with the 18mm and whatever the SAE is. My new plugs were one type, and the old were another...

It just dawned on me .Why didnt you just take one of your old spark plugs in to get the proper sizes wrench. OOPS i broke the rule :( :( :(

You've striipped and rebuilt the engine, and you can't figure how to get the plugs out??!???

My 1981 GS-750L is also an 18 mm but I have had better luck with using a three way motorcycle plug wrench that I picked up a few years ago at a honda dealer. Its basically the old socket (like the motorcycle tool kit sockets for many bikes) with a bar that goes through the end to allow you to turn the socket. It has two different size end wrenches and the 18 is actually inside the 21 mm.

What I like about it is that it fitts in there I have trouble getting a socket and other than breaking the plug loose or the final 1/4 turn tightening I can easily turn it with my fingers.
