spoke wheel disc brake on a mag?

kochic

Forum Mentor
Hi,
I have a GS1000C fork and a mag wheel from a GS1000E.I sold the original wheel/disc.
I was wondering if the bolt pattern is the same between the spoke wheel and the mag wheel?
I plan to use only one disc on the mag and but the C fork on my 1000L.
If my memory serves me right, i have to do this because the single disc is bigger than the two discs set-up.
Thank you,

Marc

Marc you have to use the correct lower fork leg with the appropriate disc. The single disc lower fork leg mounting holes are placed further up the fork leg from the axle than the twin disc model. If you need measurements then get back to me.

You have to run the 295mm disc on the single disc set up

The disc mounting holes are the same

so, you want to use the C forks, alu wheel in place of the spoke wheel and transfer the C single disc to the alu wheel?

yup, that should work as the disc bolt pattern is the same. the offset is *probably* correct as well.

Thank you everyone,
I already have the single disc fork legs.
The only thing i need to find is the brake disc.
Suzuki being suzuki, i assume that the rotor from a spokie 750 and a 1000 is the same?
Thanks,

Marc

You also need a single disc master cylinder! A dual disc master will work but you will have to pull real hard to get it so stop and the brakes will probably be a bit spongy. Get the single disc master!

Hi Tarbash,
I have already a single disc master from the same bike as the wheels i sold you.
So if i find a disc i'm in business.
Marc

You can also get a large rotor off an 82 GS550L like I did, it has the factory vent slots cut into it also.
