A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What are the chances that I could fit chrome spoke wheels from an older model onto my 86 gs 450L?? I like the low maintenance of the mags, but I like the look of the chrome spokes.

I have the chrome spoke wheels on my 82. What size are the tires on your bike? I bet it would work with no problems. Keep in mind you have to run tubes with the old suzuki spoke wheels.

Thanks

Thanks

I have 90/90 19 up front and 120/90 16 out back. I wouldn't mind having a rear disk brake but it may be too much to modify the swingarm and add the rear master cylinder?? That rear drum is a waste, it doesn't help to stop the bike much. Yes it's adjusted properly and I have new shoes.

I've got the spoke wheels on mine as well. But be warned that if you do the switch you'll end up with drums front and rear.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, I have no problem stopping and adjusting them is a breeze... 1/2 turn every other chain oiling. Er... about that much, you just adjust it when you have more than 4mm play. I usually keep more play in the rear to keep myself from locking up the rear tire.

oh

oh

That sucks. I really don't want drums on both wheels.

Thanks Guys.

That's just for my bike, I don't know for sure if there were any spoke/disc setups on any of the 450's or not. I don't think so, but I could always be wrong. :)

My GS450 has disc brake on front and drum on back. Come on this isn't any sport bike! drum on the rear is fine quit wasting your time and money.

Spokes rule, got em' on the 77gs550 and can't imagine the bike without em'. Disk up front, drum rear. Engines bigger than 550 had single/dual disks up front and a disk rear on spokes. I want to convert mine but can't justify the $$$. My rear drum works just fine with the disk up front combo...............but it can't stop like a GSXR............
