If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Good day fellow GS riders,

Does anyone know if there is a video out there that I can watch on how to properly install the Dynojet stage 3 kit on my AWESOME 83 1100E?

This is the last thing I need to do to make this bike on point. I have put a 4-to-1 Kerker pipe, the K&N pod air filters and we recently swapped to a little bit beefier camshafts for a little more power. I know that with these mods I should do the stage three kit but I am not 100% sure that I will be able to pull this off without messing anything up. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

I am sure about everything. I just am wondering if there is a video about how to install as I am a kinesthetic learner and like to see it too!

It's pretty strightforward stuff - have you ever disassembled a set of carbs before?

Drilling the slides & changing out the stock needles with the DJ ones is the hardest part, although it's not really rocket science.

What part of the install is troubling you?

Thanks for the help. I have not even started on it yet. I was just curious because it would be helpful. I am sure it is not too hard. Thanks guys.

It really is simple. CV carbs are actually easy to work on. I love em.

The sketch part is drilling the slide but and long as the hole is correct on one end or the other its fine.
Read the directions fully. Maybe even read em twice, or three times(me) and be sure to use the correct drill bit. It comes with two. One for the slides and one for drilling the cover on the mix screws.
Its easy dude, really.

I wouldnt use the drill bit that comes with the kit as it is not very good, i broke it.

It seemed to me that the existing hole angles slightly inward towards the center of the slide. It was hard for me to avoid straying a little towards the outside. It seemed if you drill straight in parallel to the outside of the slide you get off the hole a little bit.

Soft stuff you're drilling into. How in the heck?

Might be soft, but it's also fairly thick & the hole is off-angled.

I tried to push the drill bit through too quickly & didn't retract it a couple of times to clean the chip off. Recipe for a broken bit...

Mine were out-of-round as well, doesn't really matter - it's only a vent hole.

Correct, kinda. It seems to me that hole controls how easily the slide moves. The larger the hole the less resistance. Like I said in a previous post. It only has to be the correct size on one side or the other.

I really cant see how anyone could break a bit in that material:cool:
What is that stuff anyway?

You'd be surprised what I can screw up :D

No way! You do good work. You musta been outa beer that day.

Looks to me like wrought aluminum (hardcoated or thick anodized).

Who knows. Dont guess it matters but I think it has to be light weight yet durable. Those things SLING like a two stoke piston.
