If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Easy, match up the bolt length to your old ones. Or, loosely install all the bolts in the holes and make sure they are all sticking out the same amount before tightening them.

I know. BUT I mean come one. How hard would it be to put the different bolts in different bags with a letter and include a diagram showing what letter goes where? Thats how my SS Carb bolts came and I was very happy with that. This just makes more work for me :P

Luckily I was smart enough that when I pulled the covers I left the original bolts in the holes so I know which bolt goes where. And even if I hadnt I printed out the fiche. But really its just the prinipal of it. I wouldnt mind paying a few extra bucks for that kind of attention to detail.

Not hard but a lot of extra work. When you think about all the different kits they sell, labeling each bolt would add a LOT of extra time required and drive up cost to the consumers - us.

A compromise might be to have a one sheet of paper with a bill of materials. At any rate, enjoy your bolts.:)

OK well I just got my kit from Z1 and I must say I am a bit disappointed. They sent me a friggen bag full of screws. Nothing is separated, no diagrams nothing. What if I didnt know which goes where???

Here's a quote from stainless Cycle's ad...

"not just a bag of bolts, comes with instructions, and sorted."

Hmmmm...that's strange, my bolts came with a beautiful French maid who would pull a bolt out of the bag, dust it lightly with a feather duster, and say,"Monsieur, ezz one goes onto zee zecond bol 'ole on zee front of zee valve couver!" then hand it to me.

Boy, I sure miss her....

New 60pc Stainless Steel Allen Head Bolt Set
Tired of looking for those hard to find Stainless Steel Allen head bolts (great for engine side cases)? Then when you do find a set or the ones you need it cost?s an arm and a leg! We think you will find that this kit has a good assortment of sizes at a fraction of the cost!!

I bought this kit over ebay for my GS450S. One word = Joke.
As far as the engine cases go, out of 60 advertised pieces, only 6 actually fit.

The majority of the case bolts (22) are 6x35.

Sorry you got a crap kit. Order from Burk's Motorsports next time. Their stainless kits are excellent...no labels though...or French maid.:(

And indeed they are. I have their kit for my carbs and for my engine. Not sorted down to the bolt in the sense that the stator cover for example has bolts of different lengths and they are all in the bag "F" or whatever that the instructions tell you is for the stator cover. I just laid the bolts out in order as I took them out and matched to the same length as I replaced.

Does anybody make kits with Torx heads ? I have had less problems with those than Allen heads.

Kit.... I doubt it. Might check McMaster Carr and see if they carry torx. You could order them individually.

Order any quantity you want. Cheaper than hardware stores. Reasonable shipping costs, and they ship fast.

http://mcmaster.com
Cheapest per piece price if you want a lot of leftovers for your obsessively organized collection of stainless metric allen head stuff...(who, me?) everything comes in larger quantities, usually 50 or 100. Look for "socket head cap screws." McMaster-Carr has lots of other oddball stuff, too.

Hi Mr. bwringer,

Did you use one of mcmaster's bolt kits? Possibly the Metric 18-8 Stainless Steel Standard Socket Head (240 Piece) kit, part# 92540A111?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

If u REALLY wanna be special, go to www.mcfeeleys.com and get soem stainless metric square drive screws. They take a special square drive socket, and I've used them for years in my outdoor furnituremaking endeavours. They won't rust, dont strip out like philips, and are theft resistant cuz not many people have the square drive bit, or even know what one looks like.

I know this is an old post, but I was trying to find out about the difference between 316 and 304 satinless. This entry made me laugh to tears "Special square drive socket". I will be using that.:)

What's so funny? :-k

that "special square-drive socket" is actually a Robertson drive system.

Did you look at the link in the post just above yours?

Sorry, I am from Canada, where the Robertson screw was invented and used on almost anything Canadian made. I've never heard it called a "square drive", that's all. I've told a few of my friends up here and they all got a chuckle out of it too.

It would be like calling the phillips head an "X Drive", that's all.
