DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My girls starter motor is dead, I have checked and it is indeed the motor.
It was already dying a slow death  but now it is at it's end.
Her bike is a Katana 1100, manufactured 8/81.

Kat 1100/1000 part number is 31100-49500-H17

GS750 part number is 31100-49050

GS1000 part number is 31100-49050

Now my buddy Marcovandervelde is using a 2-v 750 starter motor in his Katana 1100 engine and I know a guy who has a 1000 engine with a good motor in it that I could buy so it should interchange right? But maybe teeth on the cog or something else I overlookied couldn't fit? :?

I'm trying to get her back on the road as quick as possible, Kat is her only transport now, her 550L (Bob for intimi) is currently awaiting a new alternator.

Sorry I can't answer for sure, Robin...but looks like something is different.

GS750E 2-BRUSH 80-83 CWSS-16 $290

GS850G 2-BRUSH 80-83 CWSS-16 $290

GS1000 2-BRUSH 80-82 CWSS-16 $290

GS1100 80-84 2-BRUSH CWSS-16 $290

VS700/750 INTRUDER 86~ CWSS-17 $290

VS1400 INTRUDER 87~ CWSS-18 $290

GS1150 84-86 CWSS-19 $290

GSX1100 KATANA ALL MODELS CWSS-20 $290

GSXR1100 89-92 CWSS-20 $290

This is from their page: http://www.cyclewareables.com/pages/street_new_rebuilt_startermotors/new_rebuilt_starter.htm

Maybe it is something like you thought....the gear, etc.

Re: Starter motor exchange 750/1000/1100 bit of a hurry.

From bikes/engines I had on hand in my shop. I found the starter motors from a 79 750E, an 80 1100E and 81 750E, an 83 1100E and 85 1150E were all interchangable relative to fitting, gears lining up and turning the engine normally.

I have a starter from a 81 750E installed in my 83 1100/1197 E. No problems with it.

Robin, maybe this guys application page will help you.

http://www.stockers.com/

Good Luck! I just repaired the starter on the 550L, one of the watch mainspring stye springs had popped out of its mounting.

Wear latex gloves, that old, dirty lithium soap grease used as lube takes forever to get out from under your fingernails!

Their are two different starters a two brush & a four brush they are interchangable
