And ..... And....
Consider if all you saw and know we're the stats I have just posted? What would you say is the issue ?
Me - the stator is at fault ! (Of course indjnt have another known working one to test)

I vote for two bad new stators….get a used 50 yearold one from a junkyard! I bought two and they worked fine… current unit has been in there since 2012 and got mated to a sh-775 since 2013

I'll try and find a bike breakers in UK ... Not used these.much since 80's ....... So kinda lost where they are or even if exist now.
But good idea. Ill try and find. (Anyone know any good breakers in UK .....)

I have sent letter with stats to m&p here and hope to get money back as can't be sure of their stock now.

That or wemoto new one is plan but broke ...

Edit - found a few bike breakers localish. Will ring.
Any suggestions mind welcome.

(Damned annoying this as I wanna go cruising again on the 550 in a tent. The GSX too small for that sort of thing and RD well that's to nuts.
This.must be fixed as wanna do another EU tour)

I will do a supplement of tests if these books can add any. So we have all possible tests anyone would possible do to track an issue .

My issue is like no other ... And it has to be the unluckiest fact that I was given 2 faulty new regulators.

Ringing breaker yards ...

Stop the press!!!!!!!!!

More info . Was asked if the new stator I fitted has the same number of windings !!!!
My old one which I have out has 18 - pic attached.
BUT
I have pic of the one I ordered (which I must assume is the same as one in bike 99.99999% assured ) and it has same fittings but only 12 windings !!!!!

Both the new ones were like this !

Could this be it ? As 'our' stats and investigation has shown ?
AND
if so why would less windings matter (yes I am the worst at elecs)

What's think ? Do we have it ,?
Pic.my original

If the people who sold you the two 'faulty' stators sent you 12-pole stators, then they're at fault.
However, it's entirely possible your bike left the factory with a 12-pole stator and somebody later on upgraded it to the later 18-pole one (including replacement rotor).
If that was the case, or your bike was made during the transition period between model changes, then the stator seller was just going by what was listed for the year of the bike.
Anyway - that's definitely a real problem and trying to run a 12-pole stator with an 18-pole rotor will result in no output.

Ok this is looking good then !!!! Indeed this is now likely to be the reason ......as all adds up with
wemoto selling an 18 pole for my bike and m&p
probably having this one and another.

It's easily done as I had no idea how many poles my one had as only swapped it when new one arrived. I didn't even think to compare when swapping either.....

Whatever it will be solved soon and an 18 "pole"
One fitted.
Will update.

In meantime I have my new breakers trying to find one .......

Not concluded yet and will update when I try a 18 pole one.
But a mistake in my haste !

Cheers for info !

This question was asked before by Tom203 in post #53
.
Getting back to basics, does this new stator have same number of poles as the your old burnt stator? 18?

oh was it ! hrmmmm please ! not 4 posts up abouts i give a nod to that very chap !!!!

"More info . Was asked if the new stator I fitted has the same number of windings !!!!"

at least i have an excuse for missing that issue as it was not visible as in the bike. my head was buried in technical tests and an assumption new parts specifically ordered for my bike work.

your second question.... you know what i think ill take the gsx out as a warm sunny day .....

stators (status)

- stator out ready for return money back from m&p
- await breakers stator (i gave them a photo of old one for obvious reasons) OR may just order from wemoto who deliver next day.
- gasket and casing faces cleaned
- The new RR in (that worked on the gsx)
(kept old regulator and will test with this new setup as may be ok)

so a few days to wait for conclusion.

Heck, I’ll sell you the used 18 pole stator I took out of my bike. It’s got about as much chance of fixing your bike as one you’re gonna get from a breaker.

Good old M&P have agreed to send another stator.
It seems as informed it was changed from one to the other about the time of my bike.....

M&P deserve to be back in the good books.

I can feel the burning desire to do a bike tour over the channel and up to near Amsterdam again now.

Do you guys remember this pic - attached when I broke down in Amsterdam in a field .... and it took a week and this site to fix it ? I then did 5000 miles around Europe in a tent.... Good days.

pic of a typical field garage !!
