A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I need to purchase a new stator for my 1982 GSX 1100 EZ.

I'm looking for an aftermarket one off Ebay. My problem is the sellers have differing information as to what model bikes their stators will fit.

Can someone please put me on the right path so i don't end up purchasing the wrong one.

Thanks

Richard

Why not contact a GSR member here named Steve. He rebuilds stators and can provide you with the correct one. PM him and see what he has for you.

Actually, I don't rebuild them, I have them done for me. And, unfortunately, I have had some problems with my supplier, and am currently out of stock on ALL stators.

There is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, though. FIVE MONTHS after paying for a batch of stators, I have finally heard from him. Now, let's see if he finally delivers the goods.

Hi, Thanks for the replies, but i'm not after a recon unit, can some one just confirm what aftermarket stators would suit my bike please.

Don't dismiss a recon unit so fast.If done on an OEM base to could well be better than a new one IMO.

Rick's ,Electrosports, plus plenty of others offer new units direct or thru Amazon, eBay ,etc. .As far as I can tell, they are all made in China these days. Nothing wrong with rewound units- many are using them and some guys have even wound their own successfully. Understand that the charging system connections need addressing- new parts aren't a panacea. Also search for the SH-775 r/r stuff. Probably 90% of new r/r's are mediocre choices at improving long term happy motoring.

i have an 82 1100 EZ stator with under 1k miles...came from a part out many years ago.
caramel color and look brand new.
shipping to OZ is crazy.
on the after market stator's you need a large GS unit.
1000
1100
1150
you may need to change ends but these will bolt in.

I'm still unsure of what to buy. Can somebody just confirm that the electrosports ESG 020 ESG 021 and ESG 024 will fit my bike. Some ebay sellers say they will some say they won't. Whats the difference in stators are they physically different in sizes/screw holes, higher volts or different wiring. I thought they would have been pretty much all the same for the 1000 and 1100s. Also whats the difference between the 1100 E 1980 to 1982 and the 1982 EZ i thought they were mechanically pretty much the same but again some sellers say they have different stators. I just don't want to fork out my money (which is scarce) and have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for it to arrive just to find it doesn't fit and then have the hassle to try and return it.

Can some one help please.

I have no idea why you would not refer to the ElectroSport Website for fitment information???? Why even ask an Ebay Seller?
