DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i recently bought a replacement stator for my '84 GSXR 400, got it all into the engine and now have run into a small problem.
the stock wiring had 3 bullet connectors for the stator instead of a clip, so i have no idea which wire was for which leg of the stator.. and which terminal on the reg/rec it connects to..

so my question is this, can i just arbitrarily hook up the leads for each of the legs and the reg rec will sort out which to use in which situation? or is there a specific a to a, b to b kind of setup?

any help is greatly appreciated..

for reference it's a 3 stage stator with a 5 prong reg/rec (power, gnd, and 3 prongs to stator)

The order of the stator wires does not matter. Consider GS Charging Health (in my signature) in making your installation, especially grounds.

ahh thats good to hear, makes my life so much easier. i'll definitely check that out. thanks, posplayr.

riding ;D and fighting with my charging system every day haha.

You got a GSXR400? Sweet! I want one. Got pics? Where did you get it??

i have a couple more but i think they're on my phone

i bought it here in vancouver, but it was originally only sold in asia and europe so it's an import (grey market)

there is also CBR400R and CBR400RR kicking around. my friend has an NSR400 so many awesome 400 sport bikes out there.

they are great cause they have decent power (mine is 59hp, 29ft-lb tq), and insurance is cheap. i pay around 70$/mth for insurance.

Awesome. Yeah, very few of those in the states but I would love to get my hands on one. Yamaha brought quite a few of the FZR400's and of course Suzuki has the little 400cc bandit but nothing like those razor sharp CBR's and GSXR's from Japan.

aaaand now something new has popped up.

got it all hooked up and when i turn the key on the temp gauge shoots for the moon.
and no response from the starter when i press the start button :c

Does this bike have an alternator?

obviously something funny is going on. Looks at what all you changed. Either reverse it or disconnect it to see if it goes away.
