    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Still Won't Idle! I think I'm done.

Great thread... However I started reading and after a few posts, I was like screaming at the screen, check the valves, check the valves! It was like a horror film and you know they are gonna open the door and you don't want them to. But its great that the thread went on as it did and like a bedtime story, everyone is at peace. But anytime you get a new bike, do the valves, its the most unfun, byt you have to see the bigger picture, it was unfun for the PO's before you too, so who know how long shes gone without an adjustment.

You can learn so much from reading. Can't wait to get into mine. Congrats MIke. I am so glad your ride is going well, hip hip hooray for sticktoittiveness, good for you...

Look at top left of column where it's says "POST NEW THREAD"- dive in and explain your problem , Hopefully, you've already discovered Mr.Basscliff's knowledge vault.

I love that this thread lives on.

Same here. There's so much great info in here.
Kind of sad to see some of the old timers listed as "guest" now, though.

By the way, I think I recognize the location your bike pic was taken. :-k

I do believe you were standing just a few yards away when it was taken!

I've read this whole thread, I just wanted to congratulate you Mike on not giving up!! Valve clearances should ALWAYS be checked initially before any other tuning occurs..

Valve clearance checked, all bolt torque checked, carb clean/sync.

I'm glad to hear you got it running and didn't give up! For a guy who didn't have any mechanical abilities I'm sure you learned a lot now..

Take care

I love that this thread lives on.

It has been 10 years since this thread started and it's still helping people. Just read the entire thread and it was incredibly helpful! I've learned more reading this thread than I have in the past year. So glad it had a happy ending and thank you to everyone for all the useful information!

Cheers,
Jimmy

That's great, Jimmy! I'm so glad my folly is still providing benefit!

Wow. Talk about resurrecting a thread (and poster) from the dead.

Been a while since any hookers have disappeared around here.....

That's because I already took care of them all.

Been busy, but still chugging along with the 1150. Started doing test-drives of cars a while back too - just started producing video reviews of them too! Been fun. Good to hear from ya, Griff!

Awesome. Good to see you're staying "in the business". It's a tough business to get into, even tougher to stay in.

My stable has grown a lot. Believe it or not, I just got rid of two steeds last week. I think they mate and birth at night when I'm not out there......

Now you just need a Yammy!

I went down a dark path - been restoring a '69 MGB GT!

Yup, thinking maybe get rid of a couple more GSes, then I can find me a nice original FJ1100/1200 without having to find a divorce lawyer.

Moto-journalism is moto-journalism, be it cycles, cars, or dirigibles. Printed, digital, or video media for that matter, makes no difference. You're pursuing your passion and making a living at it, which is rare for too many people nowadays.

Having a hell of a great time doing it, too!
