I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Stock GS1000 Stator ?

Forum Newbie
I bought what I thought was an OEM stator off ebay privately for my GS1000.On my bike I have three wires at the plug/r.r end.White, blue & green. On the new one I have five wires. Two white with blue stripe, one green with white stripe and two yellows.
It appears to have been modified 8" from factory shroud end then electrical taped. It has three wires at start... yellow, green with white stripe, white with blue stripe.Okay I should be able to remove the modification,ie revert it to 3 wire and it will be good for my bike.White would go to yellow on the new one and match the other two colours. Was this mod done to suit a five plug r/r and would it have worked.
Wish I had simply bought an Electrosport stator..doh.I hate butchering wires.
Mark.

If it had five wires it 'should' be off of a GS1000 with separate regulator and rectifiers. Electrically two sets of two wires are connected together and the third connector is a single. For example, the stator has three leads, two connectors are connected to one lead, two connectors are connected to the second lead and the third is a single connector. You can double check each pair with your DVOM to make sure that I'm correct.

Wire the stator directly into your R/R. Bypass the factory Suzuki wiring other than the red wire return to the fuse box. This is one of the most critical reworking of your bike to make the charging system reliable. That stator did you a favor. Without this confusion you might have plugged the stator into the factory wiring and melted down the wires on the road somewhere.

Yes you only want three wires and as Ed said go right to the R/R avoiding the striped OEM wires. in the harness
See GS charging health for a synopsis.

Hi,

You'll find a lot more information on my little website.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Ed,are you saying plug the two yellow and the green/white wires into the r/r leaving the other white and blue striped ones unplugged.Yes the r/r has three yellow and the red going to the fuse box.

Two white with blue stripe, one green with white stripe and two yellows.

Yellow> two yellows
Green/white>Green/white
White/blue>two white/blue

Treat each double as a single wire... they are electrically connected.

Yellow............
Green/white..... Connect these three legs DIRECTLY to the three R/R inputs
White/blue......

First off, read Dale's (rustybronco) post above.

And yes, don't worry about the factory harness. Tape up those terminals on the harness and splice the R/R wires directly to the stator per Cliff's diagram. Some male/female crimp on spade terminals are popular to connect these two devices, or just solder the wires direct and shrinkwrap. Also make sure your R/R is properly grounded. Suzuki's grounds were quite bad on many bikes. Lastly, Pos put together a really nice test to see how much resistance is present in the Red + wire going back through the fuse box (check Cliff's website for this writeup). You may have to clean the terminals if there is significant losses.

Good luck
