DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Eh everybody, glad to find this. Previous bikes CBR600rr, Vegas 8ball. New GS owner, recently brought home a 1980 GS250T. It was listed as not running, needs tlc. Being almost exactly what I was looking for I figure I can probably get it running so I go look. It looked great, guy says not running, spark issues,? old gas. We put the battery in, lights all work so I ask him to hit the starter, just quick. It turns over. No barking but it sounds like its trying to start. Better than I was expecting, in the truck it goes. The next morning out I go to see whatsup. Remove the tank, drain the old fuel. With the tank off I pull a spark plug, is there spark? Hit the button and no kidding there?s a spark. It?s faint but it?s there so I check the other side, same thing. Wow. So I figure let?s see here, I drop a few drops of good fuel into the plug holes, wait a bit, install the plugs and hit the button. It barks, just for a sec but it wants to run. I?m stoked. Up to the bike store for a couple plugs, some carb cleaner and some quicky start, just incase. New plugs in, bit of quick start in the intake and it runs for a couple seconds. Sweet. Install the tank, hit the button and it revs like it?s wide open. Some quick troubleshooting to find the notched idle screw(?) between the carbs was pinned. Backed it all the way out and then in until it idled just nice. Running in less than two beers, I?m pumped. I?ll be doing brakes, tires, and shocks/forks, maybe see if I can hide some electrical so any advice is appreciated and thanks for the help already, I?ve read a few threads.
Cheers
Fixer

Good luck, My ex had a GS250T as her first bike when she passed her test, I used to enjoy riding it. That was in around '83.

Welcome to the site.
That little bike is allot different than your last 2 machines for sure. My wife has a little 250 that I ride around the neighborhood and its like riding a skateboard....small and fun.

Thanks guys
i got the gs250 to ride to work and back saving some cash on fuel and parking. Also looking forward to cheap insurance. To insure a bike here in BC is based on engine size, makes it not worth it to ride a ?big? bike for me. Bonus I get to make the gs250 look cool. Got rid of some electrical yesterday.
