I like that bike. I bought it for $350 in pieces, put it together, and have so far modified it with my own two hands for maybe $100 and some of my time. KGB, you don't like it? That's fine. But you didn't leave it at that. You thought it was worth it to be a dick. **** you.

Come on gents, this is getting a bit out of hand. One reason I like this board is that it is civilised.
Its worth remembering that if you post pictures of your bike and or handy work then you are inviting people to comment, be it positive or negative. If you receive comments that you are unhappy about then send the person a pm and sort it out in private, resorting to swearing is not the answer. This is after all a bike recourse and not a instrument for petty arbitration.

isaac... seems like you can dish it out but you can't take it. I've seen in your other posts and threads that you have no problem calling something ugly or worse, but when it happens to you, it's a big deal and the foul language begins. If you don't like being disrespected, perhaps you should consider showing respect.

Seems to me that you're reaping what you've sown (take a look at the first post in the thread you started and see how much of the insults you threw around at styles and tastes), but it's never too late to change... you throw out your opinions, others do the same and you seem to be the one resorting to name calling and personal attacks.

Take a step back and chill. Love what you love and respect others for doing the same, even if you don't like it.

As far as criticism goes, I wouldn't have improved as an artist if I wasn't given tons of criticism and if I wasn't so hard on myself, every time. Criticism, when thoughtfully considered, yields improvement and innovation.

Isaac- I love that bike. I think it looks sweet. but understand that there will be people who dont like it... Just like how I love the looks of a HD Low Rider, but a lot of guys on this site dont...

oh, and about why people like stock bikes (I think thats the other thread, but whatever...)

Its a challenge. To take a bike that was sitting in someone's barn for 20 years and return it to its original state is an accomplishment. I personally dont think stock is always the best, (i am not keeping my 750 stock) but I commend the guys that do. there is something about having a 25 year old bike that looks like it just came off the show room floor.

like it has been stated over and over, everyone has different taste, they can thats good, some people like pink flamingo's and some don't.

maybe what is irking some people here is a little arrogances coming from you (isaac). I give you lots of credit for taking a big step out from the herd and trying some different things to your bike, but for the most part you really haven't strayed or changed much from the original bike. For the most part it is a flat black bike with pieces cut off for no real good reason. (or maybe i just can't understand you vision, care to lay out your concept and goal for the bike) Maybe that is what gets people mad, anyone can hack pieces and paint it black, but there needs to be reason behind why you did it, (tell me something, like you cut the back off to loss weight so you could go faster, but doing so you would need to address better handling cause of the new found speed, which means the L forks don't cut it so that would have to be fixed, and with new forks you would need new wheels, and so on. This begins a theme and concept and a natural progression. There becomes a real art to modifying a bike and maintaining lines, changing performance and keeping themes. There are certian things that just don't work well together, like two wheels on the back of a Busa, or GSXR with a Springer front end.

here's a bike that has a similar idea of what you are presenting us so far, but see how this bike has smoother more finished lines finer details and a more thought out approach. And yes i understand this bike is $74700 more then your bike, but you can still get pretty close to it with lots of hand labor, metal work and creativity.

if you can try to watch the Matt Hotch vs. Roger Goldammer biker build off, i think it has some great form over function and function over form as well and it replays on feb 8th 8pm.

Stock bikes preserve history. They're often not my taste, but I can totally understand the desire to keep a piece of time alive. And as far as looking out of date... everything does at some point or another. Everything comes back in style, too. What is "cool" now will seem out of date in 5-10 years, then it will be "cool" again later, then yesterday's news again. Just about every 20 year old now will be laughed at when they're 50 by 20 year olds , or told that they were "so cool because you were there" and the cycle goes on and on. That's why I don't pay any attention to what is "cool" I just go with what I like at the moment.

As for the nutbike:

Well that's just nuts, and aesthetically just isn't there, but it's damn badass just for the Road Warrior look. That's just frickin sweet.

They've gotta be kidding about the price though. Canadollars or not, that's about ten times as much as that realistically should cost to build. From what I've seen on their site, just the upgrade from Harley Evo to that 121" motor is a 50-100% increase in price depending on the bike. Last time I checked, archaic pushrod motors can only be so high tech. Running a dremel through the ports for a few hours, dropping in a few valves and seats and two high compression pistons doesn't cost $20,000

Just like mine, if you're building a bike that looks like it came from the set of Mad Max, you don't need it clean and neat. Its' essence (totally lost on KGB), is in its minimalist design. You don't build a ratbike streetfighter with brand new, shiny clean parts.
