    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi All,

Thanks for all off your help with the sheared bleed screw.

I have now another problem. My headlight, when turned on were stuck on high beam.

I have completely stripped down the handlebar controls that control switching between High Beam and Dipping of headlights, the indicators and horn.

Im having problems now putting the whole thing back together. Can anyone help, does anyone have a drawing or instructions for re-assembly

It was probably gone before you took it apart. Now it's really gone. You and Cabinover are in the same pickle now. Once the inside of these switches get fouled up its time for a new one. Since you have not cracked the circuit board you might be able the rebuild it with parts from another one, but you might as well replace it.
 
The handle bar switches on my bike weren't working as well as they should have so I took them apart and cleaned all the copper contacts, then put it back together. Works great now. :D
I'm not sure about any other models, but the 1150 turn signal/high beam switch is pretty fiddly with a couple springs, a ball bearing and the tiny copper contacts. If you are patient though you can get them back together without too much fuss.

You should be able to get it back together, there is only one way it all fits.
You won't damage the parts by playing around, it's pretty easy to see if something won't fit/work.

Just be absolutely careful to not lose any pieces!!!
 
I agree - it's a pain to rebuild the turnsignal portion of the switch. I had to clean the contacts, reshape the contact plate, and fabricate a new spring for mine. It worked for a bit, with no positive feedback coming from the blinker switch (especially while wearing gloves) because it was just flat worn out.


So I bought the controls off of a 90's Katana. Looks better, works better - much happier.

Thanks for your advise, I managed to get it back together.
However as you say the feedback from the controls seems pretty worn out so I think Im going to have to replace them.

Is it easy to replace the controls with that of another model
such as the Katana or GSX remembering Im no electrician??

I did manage, with patience and Super Glue, to reassemble mine :D
It's a pain in the butt but is doable. I had PM'd a few about a switch and one of them replied that he had rebuilt his using springs from a clicker type pen. They do work and are about the same size. Whatever you do, don't use di-electric grease to lube the assembly...DUHHHH, here's your sign :lol: I can draw up the assembly procedure if you'd like. Bob
