All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks, that's a really early production for an ET model, if you can still read the VIN label on the steering head it would probably show date of mfg as late 1979 or early 1980.

What is an X registration, not familiar with that term?

David.

Hi dave sorry for some reason I have put in the time zone wrong when I signed up to the forum and seem to be talking to all Americans which isn?t a problem for me to be honest but an x reg is the year the bike was registered in the uk I am in Scotland and to be honest an x registration should be 1981 but I don?t know if it?s because it was registered in may it?s 1982 I have checked the registration document again and it doesn?t give that info just when it was first registered but I would imagine it would be 81 but you have me intrigued now I need to get over to my garage and check the vin number I will get back to you on this when I finally get over but may be a while

And sorry the x Reg probably explained better as the uk used alphabet letters for the year ie three letters then three numbers then the x for 82 or y for 83 or whatever then when they got through all that they put the letter at the start of the registration number confusing yes I know but my bike is registered as GAS 158 X like on the number plate I hope you understand what am on about

I?m sure there?s nothing wrong with whatever time zone you put in. Although there probably are more Americans in here, we really have folks from every country on here and benefit from everyone?s wealth of knowledge. It?s one of the biggest reasons I like this forum. However, just based on the sheer presence of us in the states and Canada, remember most of us will not know how England does their registration. I do remember from my time there but I also know the lettering is recycled so keeping on it is hard. What letter are you on this year?

Please let us know what you find when you return.

The March number plates are the year, while the September plates are the year plus 50. So, from 1st March 2021 new cars will have 21 in their number plate, while new car registrations from 1st September will have 71 reg plates.[/COLOR]

What will new car reg plates look like in 2030? You will see 30-plate cars from 1st March and then 80-plate cars from 1st September.
