DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Happy Thanksgiving all,

the '81 GS1100e is substantially complete.

Mods/upgrades: tires, brakes, SS brake lines, shocks w/HD springs, high rate fork springs, fork emulators, fork brace, pipe, stage III jetting and synch, air filter pods, DynaS ignition wires and coils, HD stator and regulator, recovered seats.

Still needs some minor cosmetic work, but is very much a great rider.

I can't get over how smooth and fast the bike is now. It really does compare very well with my 2001 ZRX but has a better riding position - IMO.

I left the 'block head' headlight box dumped the air box for pods.

If someone offered a fuel injected, ABS version of this bike (with less goofy looks), I'd be all over it. In the mean time this is one great bike.

Yep, this never happened until we see pictures of the rebuild.:D

In addition to to being a wonderfully supportive and helpful forum, this forum exhibits two additional characteristics: One being 'frugal' (some would say cheap), and two, a vast appitite for pictures of bikes.

I happen to share both of these afflictions - I mean characteristics.

Here is another pic of the ridable bike. Man does it go good!

Load your pictures to Photobucket, or similar, and you'll have the full size pictures you want and a number that's easier to post (up to 10 in a post). There are instructions on Basscliff's site that explains it.

Sweet looking ride!! But then again, I'm a bit partial to the '81 1100E myself.

You said you disabled the anti-dive? I didn't know it had one...

Welcome to the forum.

Beautiful bike!

Daniel

Thanks,

the new V/H exhaust really helped.

The bike obviously needs some minor cosmetic attention, but its an exceptional runner as is.

I really tried hard to pay attention to what this forum had to say about mitigating the bikes original flaws, what mods were the best for the money and how to do things so the bike actually worked.

I am really surprised how well the bike works now. Even though I am using the stiffest front and rear springs the bike is not harsh at all. The fork emulators and 10 wt oil keep the correct rate springs from being harsh.

And while my 1200 ZRX is faster the GS is much more enjoyable to me as it has a better riding position - for me.

Besides the large and committed members here that make owning the bike easier, the fact that there are so many performance parts still available at reasonable prices makes this bike a great 'classic' to own.
