A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi

Me again

this might be a stupid question but someone's gotta ask it.

anybody got or ever ridden a suicide shift bike either the ''proper'' way with the foot clutch or with the clutch on the shiftier its self?

and ideas how i could maybe give if a go on gs750/ soon to be gs1000 chop?

cheers Dan

Why not just go out in heavy traffic, pin the throttle and close your eyes?

ha-ha well I've done that already plus this is not for like ''fast'' riding will just be for the weekends where i go out for a few hours or to a bike rally.

but its just an idea i really like the idea of them i know there is a massive chance ill ride it and hate it but i still just want to see and feel what its like.

Darwin award winner in training...

Does your bike have an open exhaust?

Riding is difficult and dangerous enough as it is why make it more so?

It's not know as a "suicide shift" for no reason now is it.

Stick with a standard setup.

Actually yes I have ridden a couple different bikes with foot clutch, and 1 with tank shift and 1 suicide as you call it , down under the leg on the left side. It wasn't to bad once you got the hang of it but it really keeps you on your toes. One bike was a old 48-49 Harley "45" , the other was a "59" Harley pan head.

Now that one made me laugh, and I'm usually pretty surly! Chopping one of these things is a waste of a good motorcycle, hell no on the suicide shifter!

Chop it up! I've got a foot clutch and tank shift on my Intruder and it's awesome. I've got a foot clutch and jockey shift on another bike and my buddy has a full suicide clutch on his with no front brake. Go for it. You gotta be good though.

Can't imagine having to downshift three times in a second to survive and dealing with some crazy lame ass shifter at the same time. WTH, we all need parts bikes and organ donors.

Go for it! And when you're not trying to find out why it's called a suicide clutch, spend your free time playing Russian Roulette. Odds of survival are about the same......

Which is exactly when you'd kill yourself. "I'm not really riding fast or anything..." means your guard is down.

Good Luck. Make sure your life insurance is paid, and send my advance condolences to your loved ones.. :(

 If you want to shift gears with your left hand, just buy one of these... Its even Japanese! :D

It has a foot clutch, too.

Ahem...gonna do this in my best British accent...are you bloody daff?

How was that? Is daff the correct spelling?

Got a good chuckle out of this.
I am thinking if the guy does with it what hes thinking, he should first remove a couple pistons, to make more harley-ish running and sounding.

Daft has a T. Daffy has a Y. Take your pick. As I read it, it sounded very British. Either way is fine.

Take out #2 and #4, it will sound and perform about like a Harley.

haha life insurance? why bother I'm not going to need it when I'm dead :) and just because im riding slow don't mean I'm not aware i still watch my back for the cage jockeys trying to kill me. :)

but thanks for the feed back i can see that its not for most people but some enjoy it.

I guess you've learned by now that there are more than a few negative Nancys on this site.

I wouldn't do it to my bike, but what's your plan? For shifter, clutch, brakes etc.?
