DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

T-Nation Thread (My 2nd Thread) 3rd Overall (I think)

My son and I are working up a xl250s from boxes of parts, the rising sun will be on the cover, cool idea.

Question brothers... I need a new oil filter which is easy to find, as I recall the T gasket (o ring) is different than the one in that comes standard with the filter. Where are you getting yours?

I had fuel fill the entire engine. I replaced the petcock and drained the oily gas mixture which splashed out like the bike had food poisoning.

Safe travels. Yasser

Yasser,
I have been buying Hiflo brand filters and they come with 2 o-rings, one of which fits our bikes.

I use K&N oil filters, and they come with 2 gaskets as well. They really don't cost much either...

Thanks guys. Had the T out yesturday AM with the wife. Some mornings are just perfect.

Seems odd the "T" would have 16 valves but rear drum brakes.

They went economical with the brake shoes I guess...it's what was in the parts bin (from what I've read). It was introduced as a 1982/83 model only which is kinda cool. The rear brake isn't used much anyway; I bought a pair of shoes thinking I had to replace them but the current ones have plenty of pad left in them.

Sorry yasser , I use the HiFlo oil filter and gasket that curves onto the cover. Glad you had a nice ride.

By suggestion of our man Red, I was asked to post my "T" on this thread.....I picked this up about 6 weeks ago from a guy who was the original owner for 34 years. Changed oil yearly, and kept her running the entirety of its life. Only has 16K on the clock, but was in need of a little TLC. I also needed to make some changes to the ergonomics. I never liked the original bars and swapped in enduro bars, which I think work really well. removed the rack, and have the included windshield off and wrapped in plastic and will be selling, along with the rack. Also installed a new bridgestone rear tire that the original owner included with the sale, had the seat trimmed down an inch, and refoamed with memory foam and memory gel by americana soft sets ( amsss.com). Put in a JW Speaker 8700 series II headlamp, and will be sending the carbs out to chef in CA for a real rebuilding. I'm loving the ergonomics now, but need the engine to accelerate smoothly. Here she is....

before tweaks....

and after

the prior owner had this conglomeration of horns that didn't work, Replaced with a sound bomb mini with great success.

glad to be a "T" owner. I truly feel its the most beautiful of all the GS's, I've never liked the plastic add-ons behind the seat, and in the late 70's thru 80's they were on virtually all UJM's.,

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVER HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ed

Well, I have tried 3 browsers and looked at 4 posts about this "mystery T" but can't see any pictures of her...

Can you see this one?

Having a devil of a time getting my photobucket to link....
