DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If any of you have used the REAL GASKET on your 16 valve motor you might have run into the situation where the tach drive does not line up properly and causes damage to the gears that are on the exhaust cam. Well anyway This happened to me and now I was wondering what would be the best way to remove the metal from my motor. I removed as much oil from the head and I changed the oil and filter. I was wondering if I should do any more. there really wasn't much in the way of metal. here is a pic of the cam and the damage that was done.

As you can see there is not much damage to the gears but still that metal is in my motor.

That sucks. I think that guy needs to stop selling those for the 16 valve. Seems to be a problem. I have an extra set of 1100 cams if you need them. I even have an exhaust slotted sprocket if I remember correctly.

You probably want to drop the pan and clean out any shavings from the pan and the sump screen, which is on the bottom of the motor after you remove the pan. It's a real PITA if you have the original exhaust, because even with the mufflers removed, it's very tight, but I DID manage to get it out, check it , and reinstall a new pan gasket and the pan back on my 1978 GS 750, but it took a while.
